Bab 15: Part 15

" Alright, I will see if I can get something for you." Camilla promised.

——

Canary and Lucy and everyone at the mansion was mourning for the last time since the following day Alexander was going to be buried.

Joel came and joined them in everything.

***

The following day, family, friends, and colleagues gathered to pray for Alexander before his burial.

The ceremony was solemn, with heartfelt tributes to the late CEO, who had been a pillar of strength for many.

Lucy stood by Canary's side, her eyes brimming with tears as the prayers were said. Joel kept to himself, his expression unreadable.

Lucy stepped forward first, her voice trembling but resolute. "Alexander was more than my husband; he was my partner, my strength, and the father of my son. His wisdom, kindness, and love shaped our family. Though he is gone, his legacy will remain in our hearts forever." She wiped her tears and returned to her seat, her grief evident.

Canary followed, standing tall despite the weight of loss. "My father was a man of vision and integrity. He taught me how to lead, how to persevere, and most importantly, how to care for others. I will honor his memory by ensuring that his values and dreams live on through our family and the company he built."

People listened as Canary his last words.

As Alexander was laid to rest, the weight of loss settled heavily on everyone present.

Canary held his mother close, offering her silent support as they said their final goodbyes.

As the burial ceremony ended, Lisa stood quietly at the back of the crowd, her eyes fixed on Canary.

She wanted to approach him, to offer her comfort, but the sheer number of mourners surrounding him made it impossible.

Her heart ached for him, but she remained in the background, respecting his space during this difficult moment.

Lisa lingered for a while after the ceremony, hoping for a chance to speak to him, but it never came.

Instead, she silently left, her thoughts heavy with worry for the man she cared for so deeply.

That night, Canary lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. Sleep eluded him as his thoughts were consumed by memories of his father—his guidance, his laughter, and the lessons he had imparted. The weight of loss pressed heavily on his chest.

In the next room, Lucy sat by the window, unable to sleep herself. She clutched a photograph of Alexander, her tears falling silently. The house felt emptier than ever, the absence of its patriarch impossible to ignore.

Both mother and son mourned in their solitude, their grief connecting them even in the silence of the Mansion.

The somber atmosphere lingered in the Andersons mansion for three days, each moment weighed down by grief and silence. Canary and Lucy kept to themselves, while Joel remained unusually quiet, blending into the background.

On Sunday evening, the stillness was interrupted by the arrival of Mr. Harold Thompson, the family lawyer and a long-time friend of Alexander.

Dressed in a sharp suit, Harold carried a leather briefcase and an air of professionalism as he was welcomed into the mansion.

Gathering everyone in the living room, Harold placed the briefcase on the coffee table.

"Alexander entrusted me with his will," he said, his tone calm but firm. "As his family, you all deserve to know his final wishes."

Lucy clasped her hands tightly, bracing herself for the moment, while Canary exchanged a tense glance with Joel, whose expression remained unreadable.

The room fell into an uneasy silence as Harold opened the briefcase, preparing to reveal the late Alexander Anderson's final words.

Here's the continuation with the reading of Alexander's will:

Mr. Harold Thompson cleared his throat as he began reading Alexander's will. The room was silent, the weight of anticipation palpable.

"To my beloved son, Canary Andersons," Harold read, "I entrust all my 30% shares in Andersons Group. Along with these, I leave behind critical documents related to the company's operations and future plans. It is my deepest wish that you take on the role of President of Andersons Group and guide it with the same integrity and vision I upheld."

Lucy's eyes glistened with tears, a mixture of pride and sorrow.

Joel, seated in the corner, stiffened slightly, though he quickly masked his reaction.

Harold continued, "Alexander's vision for the company was always centered on family and hard work. He believed in you, Canary, and trusted you to lead the company into a brighter future."

Canary sat in stunned silence for a moment, the weight of his father's trust and legacy settling on his shoulders.

He took a deep breath, nodding firmly. "I'll honor his wishes," he said, his voice steady. "I'll protect Andersons Group and everything he built."

Joel remained quiet, his expression unreadable as he processed the revelation.

——

After the will reading concluded, Joel excused himself and retreated to his room. The moment he shut the door, his composed demeanor shattered.

He paced back and forth, fists clenched, his face contorted with rage.

"Everything—he left everything to Canary!" he muttered, his voice rising with each word. "That old fool… How dare he overlook me? After everything I've done for this family?"

Joel slammed his fist against the wall, his anger boiling over. "But this isn't over," he hissed through gritted teeth. "I'll make sure Canary doesn't get to enjoy what's been handed to him."
