Afterwards Canary drove Lisa back home.
When they arrived at her house, Canary stepped out to open her door.
The walk to the porch was brief, their footsteps the only sound in the still night.
"Thank you for tonight," Lisa said, her voice soft. "It was perfect."
"It's just the beginning," Canary replied, stepping closer.
He brushed a strand of hair from her face, then kissed her forehead gently. "Goodnight, Lisa."
"Goodnight," she whispered, watching him leave as warmth bloomed in her chest.
Inside her room, Lisa leaned against the door, replaying the evening. For the first time, she allowed herself to believe that this was real.
She had never expected to fall in love with a man she hated the most. But she couldn't expect that she had changed him this far,
Canary was nolonger arrogant and a womanizer. The two things she hated about him the most.
But their relationship was unknown by Lucy or anyone else at at Company. Lisa wondered how they could go through this.

Canary stepped into the mansion , feeling the weight of the evening still lingering in the air.
Lucy, sitting on the couch with a glass of wine, looked up and raised an eyebrow.
"Late night," she said, her tone playful yet probing. "Back to seeing one of your women again?"
Canary froze for a moment, then let out a soft chuckle.
"What are you talking about, Mom?"
She smirked, her eyes narrowing. "Come on, Canary. Should I say that you stopped sleeping around with women ? "
He shook his head, walking past her with a sigh. "It's not like that."
"Then what is it?" she pressed, her voice softening as she leaned forward. "You look… different. Happier, even."
Canary paused and turned to face her, his expression softening. " I am nolonger into that Mom ."
Lucy blinked, her expression unreadable for a moment. " Are you sure about this ? "
He smiled. " I am sure Mom." He said.
Lucy got up and went to his. She held the sides of his shoulders with a smile.
" That's good. I hope you keep it up."
As they were talking Joel came from the upstairs.
He gave Canary a cool, calculating look before walking over to join his sister.
"Am I interrupting something?" Joel asked, his tone dripping with mock politeness.
Lucy glanced up, her frown deepening. "Not at all. What brings you in here, Joel?"
Joel sank into the armchair, his gaze sharp as he met Canary's eyes. "I was just in my room, thought I'd come check on things here." He tilted his head, his voice casual but his words laced with unspoken tension.
" Oh, I was just talking to my son" Replied Lucy while Canary kept silent.
" I heard you wanted to investigate about my department. I wonder if anything is wrong ?" Joel spoke to Canaru loud enough for Lucy to hear.
She was actually surprised to hear this.
" Canary. is it true ?" She asked.
" Yeah, I needed to review most of the records since I've been on a trip." Cabary lied.
Joel's smirk deepened, and for a moment, his eyes gleamed with something darker. " My sisters son has really grown, I didn't know you such brilliant." Joel commented.
Lucy didn't miss the tension in the air. "Joel," she said sharply, "don't start."
" Thanks for the compliment Uncle Joel." Canary spoke.
Joel simply grinned, standing up as if the conversation had never mattered. "Of course. But you'll see soon enough." He paused at the door, looking over his shoulder. "I'm just making sure I'm prepared for whatever happens."
With that, Joel left, his steps purposeful, as if he had already mapped out his path to the future.
Lucy let out a long sigh, her shoulders sagging. "I'm sorry, Canary. I don't know what's gotten into him."
Canary's eyes followed the door for a moment thinking about what Joel just said.
" Why did you ask about Joel's records ?" Lucy asked after Joel was gone.
" Mom, It's just business. Don't worry.." Canary said.
" Joel is our family. You shouldn't do anything to make him feel out of place." Lucy told Canary
" Fine Mom, Good night.." Canary excused himself and walked away.

The following day, Joel called for a secret meeting with Mr Williams and Mrs Regina to talk about Canary's sudden research.
Joel nodded. "Canary's been digging into financials. I'm not sure what he knows, but if he's looking into our records, we're in trouble."
Mr. Williams, a middle-aged man with a hard face, rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Damn it. We've been careful. The embezzling—we've kept it all clean, split the funds in ways that shouldn't raise suspicion."
Regina frowned. "But Canary's different. He's sharp. If he's looking into things, we could be exposed. And that research—he might already have something on us."
Joel leaned forward, his expression dark. "We can't let him find out. If Canary gets wind of what we're doing, he'll ruin everything."
His fingers drummed on the table, his mind racing. "I need a way to throw him off track. We need to move quickly."
Williams shook his head, frustration clear in his voice. "The problem is, Canary's not stupid. If he's digging, it's for a reason. We can't just pretend nothing's happening."
Regina's eyes glinted as she spoke. "Perhaps we don't need to pretend. We need to act faster. Canary's too involved, and if we're going to take over Andersons, we'll have to eliminate him from the equation."
Joel's eyes narrowed. "I've already got a plan for that. But if we're going to act, we need to be prepared. We can't let him get any closer to the truth."
Mr. Williams leaned in, his voice steady. "You're sure the company's shares are secured?"
Joel's lips curled into a small, confident smile. "Absolutely. We've got everything in place. But if Canary keeps pushing, we might need to speed things up."
Regina sighed. "We've been careful for years, but Canary's research might be the spark that burns it all down."
Joel nodded, his mind already formulating their next moves. "We'll make sure he's distracted, or better yet—he never finds out what we've been up to."
With their plans in motion, the trio fell into silence, the gravity of their situation weighing heavily on their shoulders. They knew they were treading dangerous ground. But they were determined to follow through—no matter the cost.
