Bab 6: Chapter 6

“I didn’t know.”

“No, you didn’t know. Now you do.”

Beto sat back down in his chair. His emotions were also getting the best of him. He knew he could continue but felt that he made his point to Carlos. They both sat there in silence, all while avoiding eye contact with each other.

“Look, I’m sorry. I know it must be hard for you, but you have to look at it from my point of view too. I was told I wasn’t welcome. That isn’t something anyone can get over. Yeah, maybe I should have called more. Trust me, I thought about it. Yet what would it have been to? A hang up? An ‘are you still gay, okay, well bye?’ I don’t know if I could have dealt with that,” Carlos said, finally breaking the silence.

“Well, I guess it doesn’t matter now. Everything will be gone soon anyways.”

Carlos jumped up from his chair again. “Wait, what do you mean? How are we losing what Mom and Dad worked so hard for?”
