“My mom has a big mouth,” I said dismissively before steering the conversation back to the matter at hand. “So, did Chloe give the ring back after you put things on hold?”

“No.”

“Is she still wearing it?”

“I don’t think so.”

“But you don’t know for sure?”

“Look, whether she’s wearing the ring or not doesn’t matter because the engagement is on hold and, frankly, I don’t think we’ll ever actually get married.”

“Why not? Because you’ve rediscovered your love of cock?”

He frowned. “That’s not the reason.”

“Then what isthe reason?”

“I’m not ready to marry Chloe or anyone right now. Hell, I don’t know if I’ll ever get married.”

“Then why’d you get engaged in the first place?”

“I don’t know. Chloe and I had been seeing each other for a while, so I figured that maybe if we settled down, I’d stop wanting other people. But soon after the engagement, we knew we’d made a mistake and that’s why we decided to put our relationship on hiatus.”
