Bab 24: Chapter 24

“I wish you’d take a moment to think before you speak sometimes,” she told me.

“I know. Again, I’m sorry. Am I forgiven?”

“Yes,” she said before giving me the side-eye, “for now.”

When my mother told me Friday morning that she’d be spending the weekend at Dennis’s, I nearly jumped for joy. With her gone, I was free to spend the night with Alex without being under her watchful eye. I didn’t tell her Alex and I were going out this time. The less she knew about my plans with him, the better. I didn’t even go home after work Friday. I’d driven in that day and put an overnight bag in the trunk of my car. I met Alex at his apartment and we had dinner and finished off a bottle of wine before going to bed.
