Bab 11: Chapter 11

“Anna Estelle.” A deceptively young voice answered the phone.

“Anna, it’s Rider.” He struggled to get his cell phone attached to the cord he fished from behind the nightstand.

“Hello, Rider. I remember you. How’s research?” she asked in a polite, not-quite-warm tone. Rider could hear her moving, closing first one door and then another one before ascending some stairs quickly in her heels.

“Tell me when you’re safe.” Rider settled on the bed to wait until she’d get wherever she felt as if nobody was listening.

A few moments later Anna cleared her throat and sighed. “Okay.”

“I have to ask for another favor.” Rider said, letting his smile out into his tone.

She chuckled tiredly. “Always. Fine, what’s up?”

“Well the first part is actually for the research. I was wondering if you could look into the records again?”

“Sure, that’s not a problem.” Rider could tell by her tone she knew the other part of his request might be the problematic one.
