Bab 41: Chapter 41

Ryan lasts, impressively, a whole two days at Nan’s before going to see Alex.

He feels a bit guilty about his happiness being focused less on his Nan than usual, so he plays grandson for a couple of days before the itch to see Alex again gets too strong, and he slips out after dark two days after his arrival.

He has no idea when Alex’s school breaks up for the summer, or whether Alex took exams, or whether they’re over yet. For all he knows, Alex doesn’t even go to school any more. He’s never asked, and Alex doesn’t tell him anything that he doesn’t ask for. Half the time, he doesn’t even tell him things that he does ask for. But after dark is a surety—he’ll be in the house, probably in his room, and possibly asleep.

But Ryan is fairly sure that he won’t mind being woken up.
