After his busy last few days of practice and his insane Progress, it was finally time to leave for his fourth year in Hogwarts. Half an hour before the Hogwarts Express left, he arrived with his Parents at Platform Nine Three Quarters.
"Have a good school year and keep up the good work. We will see you next Summer, Matthew. Oh, and think about a place you would like to visit next Summer. I and your Father would like to spend a part of the next Holidays somewhere else." Said his Mother as Matthew stood at the entrance of the Hogwarts Express.
"Sure Mom, I will write you once I have an idea. Bye, see you next Summer." Finished Matthew as he hugged his Parents before he entered the train. Since he was early he had no problem finding an empty compartment.
Once he settled his Trunk on the luggage rack, he sat down below it. He was a bit nervous about this year and had an unsettling feeling in his gut. Although he made preparation to keep himself safe, as a talented Muggleborn he would be one of the Prime targets for Riddle and his thousand-year-old Basilisk. And his experience told him no matter how he wanted to keep the timeline intact there was a good chance that things would spiral out of his control or expectations.
This time he prepared himself for as many eventualities as he could think of. For once he prepared multiple specially enchanted glasses with the purpose of protecting himself from the deadly gaze of the Basilisk. According to his Calculations, they should be able to block the gaze of the Basilisk completely. Glasses alone would save him from Death and only petrify him, with his enchantments he could fight it. He had normal glasses but also aviator goggles in case he was sure he would have to fight the Basilisk, normal glasses could after all drop to the ground easily during a fight. He already wore glasses so the other Students wouldn't wonder too much why he suddenly wore glasses once the Basilisk attacks started.
Another one of his preparations was a few Rooster he 'borrowed' from farms close to London. An animal that could possibly one-shot a Basilisk with a cry was too good to not to use. They were currently inside his trunk taken care of by his three drones that he created, had a few more drones ready but he could only use three sub-AI's at the moment. Additionally, he designed a collection of Spells with the purpose of fighting large and magic resistant Animals. And a shield Charm to block the death gaze of Basilisk as an additional layer of protection and if he needed to protect others. Healing Potions, Mandrake Restorative Draughts, and more were ready in his Trunk, his Drones had Subroutines to revive him if he ever was petrified even through his Protections.
All these careful preparations and he still felt nervous, but there was nothing Matthew could do, 'Probably I am just overthinking and there is nothing to it. My clash with Nightmare made me probably just nervous.' Thought Matthew.
Five Minutes before the Train started he felt Harry arrive at the Station through the tracking charms on his Glasses. The Weasley's were as late as every year. The moment he felt that Harry passed through the barrier between platforms 9 and 10, Matthew was able to breathe out, 'At least that worked as planned and Dobby kept his Word.'
As the Weasley's with Harry in tow rushed to the Train, the door to Matthew's department opened. A small girl with waist-length, straggly, dirty blond hair, protuberant silvery eyes, and faint eyebrows stood in the entrance. She had a distant, dreamy look in her eyes. Around her Neck was a Butterbeer cork necklace that added to the aura of distinct dottiness she naturally exudes. She had a large baby-blue-colored trunk with her.
'Luna. Oh damn, why didn't I think of it? I could have saved the Life of her Mother. She died somewhere before last School year. Well maybe I could have saved her, a bit hard since I didn't know the exact date of the Accident, but I could have warned Pandora.' Realized Matthew as he stared at the small girl that looked a bit like a small bunny.
"Hello how can I help you?" asked Matthew with a friendly smile.
"Strange." Muttered Luna as she inspected him with a stare.
"Ehm, what is strange?" wondered Matthew as he was unsure what to make of her, in the books she was described as a quite particular Person who believed in Creatures that no one has ever seen, but here she was and acted in a way she never did in the Books. He wouldn't think much of it if he was a normal person, but he was a reincarnated Person and Luna specifically picked him out.
"There are no Wrackspurts, Nargles, or anything around you. That is extremely strange." She explained matter of factly while she stared at him as he were a giant mystery.
"Ok, isn't that normal? I never heard of them before. But first, let me introduce myself. I am Matthew Mason a fourth-year Ravenclaw student. Do you want to join me in my Compartment?" he asked since Luna had just become an interesting Person for himself.
"I am Luna Lovegood. Everyone is surrounded by small creatures most commonly Wrackspurts and Nargles, some People more some less. But I never met someone who had none." She explained with a deadpan face as she sat down before him. Matthew took his wand out and levitated her Trunk on the luggage rack above her.
"Nice to meet you, Luna. So what are Wrackspurts?" asked Matthew, 'Sarah scan her surface thoughts for me. I want to know what she sees.' He requested from his AI as he didn't want to risk doing it himself. He feared like in multiple Fanfics described that Luna's Mind was a Scary place for any legillimence with natural defenses from her colorful imagination that were dangerous for normal people. But Sarah's logical algorithms should be able to bypass that.
And the results of the mind probe were fascinating. Luna's view of the World was quite beautiful and fascinating. She seemed to have an innate ability like Parselmouth or Metamorphmagi related to her sight. People were for her surrounded by a mix of colorful particles that allowed her to predict how a person was acting. These particles seemed to represent based on a color a spectrum of emotions that a person was feeling and would feel in a few moments. It was somehow related to the future. According to what Matthew picked from her explanation about Wrackspurts was that her mother must also have that Ability since it was her that named them for Luna and explained what they did.
Wrackspurts were invisible beings for her that float through the ears and make a brain go fuzzy and causing a person to become unfocused and confused. While Nargles seemed to be mischievous beings related to some negative emotions.
But what really was interesting for Matthew was the fact that Luna was able to predict the future emotions of a Person with it. And that may be also the explanation why Luna couldn't see the Aura around him. He named that ability Aura Sight. He originally didn't exist in the timeline of the Harry Potter books. If this whole Story was determined by fate or a similar being, then Luna accessed that predefined Fate and was able to see it with her Aura Sight. But Matthew was somehow inserted into the timeline from outside, so maybe he wasn't affected or included in the fate of this timeline yet. If this conclusion was right he may be able to even break Prophecies.
