Bab 1870: Why she was chosen as the crown princess (2)

Prime Minister Zhou continued to wait for the trusted guard to send the signal but even after waiting for the entire night, she didn't see the signal that was supposed to be sent. 

Her heart gradually sank as she realised that she might have been betrayed. Could it be that someone bribed that guard to betray her? 

Worried about how the chicken that was about to enter her mouth might have flown away, Prime Minister Zhou immediately sent someone to investigate the matter. In turn, what she found out was that the woman she sent out never left the capital! 

Prime Minister Zhou was dumbfounded when she found out that she had been played by a mere guard. She refused to accept that she had been betrayed and thus she went ahead and started investigating the guard. 

But that woman seemed to have disappeared from the face of the earth; no matter how Prime Minister Zhou searched for that woman, she just couldn't find her. What the hell?
