What to do, I leaned back on the futon. It was still summer and school had yet to start up. Jess was still in the hospital since they didn't feel right sending her home. That and due to her quirk her recovery was harder. The police said they would need to do a follow up eventually.
I watched the news. Currently the channel was on some disheveled scientist talking about quirk theory. Honestly quirk theory was interesting. Here in Japan, the low-class areas were filled with quirks. A literal bag of marbles, not a single marble was quirkless though.
In the middle and high class though. Being quirkless was common, the theory behind this was due to quirk selection. The richer you were the more picky about partners you could be. Endeavor the number 2 hero was a good example of this. I remembered his scandal about his quirk marriage.
I didn't know his wife's name, but her family basically sold her to the guy. He came from high class and she was middle class. My own parents were both middle class. Essentially being quirkless was more common in the high and middle class because they often looked for partners with similar quirks or completely opposite quirks. I found it impressive for those who could find real love.
However those quirk based marriages either resulted in a similar quirk to the parents, a fusion quirk, or the worst outcome being quirkless. I heard in other countries it was similar. Though in the UK, Germany and the USA were basically just fucking chaos. I picked my nose, I remembered the top hero of Germany. The guy was apparently the love child of a middle eastern ambassador and a German railroad operator.
I laughed. I only remembered the story because he made a comment about some recent events. I wiped a booger on the underside of the futon. I raised an eyebrow as the scientist on TV talked about quirk singularity.
It was a stupid, but valid theory. All it took was one guy to be born with a passive radioactive quirk to be a problem. My own quirk was a passive one that is now getting stranger all thanks to a serious incident. The perspective was, if said radioactive quirk had some sort of trigger effect and not just the passive effect. Boom! There goes a city.
However, that in itself was Patrochav's law. The idea that there was a quirk of every type, or eventually would be every type. The idea was proposed when a scientist went mad kidnapping people trying to find a way to resurrect his dead wife. A both cute and horrific story.
I picked up the remote and changed the channel. So many ideas around quirks, but that was the case when you could have almost god-like beings walk around. All Might was the symbol of peace, but even he could be killed by some of the hazards quirks out there.
I rolled my eyes as I flipped through the channels. Eventually I found an old news story. "Old, heh." I laughed a little. It was only about a month old.
However it was about a sludge villain. Well it was the sludge villain that made a big scene. This specific report was focused on the two kids involved. I paused, actually they were most likely my age. It's just that one of them had a baby face. I sighed, maybe I'll just watch a nature documentary…
I rolled out of my position and dropped to the floor. Getting up I began doing some light stretches. Just sitting around wasn't productive. If i was gonna think I should at least do some exercises. I wondered how Rumi's quirk was manifested? Was she born with ears and a tail? Most likey, but what made me wonder was her parents.
Did her parents have a rabbit quirk? Or did her parents have a different animal quirk and a jumping quirk that turned into the rabbit quirk? That… Hmm, My parents' quirks. Mom's was something like Cellular Change. From my memory it could change cell types or the density. Essentially increasing her regeneration or defense. Theoretically she could've boosted her muscle growth as well.
My dad was odd. I always remembered his beard. He would say I always feel cold thats why I have all this hair. Honestly he just never shaved and his quirk would make his hair grow longer in the winter. That wasn't its only effect though, I knew he could pull stuff out of the oven without getting burned. Stuff like that, it was all minor stuff. Honestly it hurts to know if the fire didn't spread so fast he could've lived.
I sighed, I was thinking about them and their quirks mostly because of the whole fusion thing. One had a quirk that could change cells and the other could slowly adapt to the environment. If I had to compare my quirk now to my parents. My quirk seemingly took from my mom's ability to affect the cells and my dad's adaptation.
Now that I thought about it, that explained even the fact I could now expel energy. People expel energy normally through their actions. If I was absorbing energy like light and heat, surely expelling it wouldn't be too weird.
I got an idea on how my quirk worked. However I guess I'd get a real idea after that quirk test thingy. I had to really wonder about other students. Surely some at UA would have some either weird ones or powerful ones.
I picked up one of the superhuman weights. I was up to 450lbs, for whatever reason my strength seemed to develop the most… perhaps I should do some cardio? I put the weight down, I wanted to increase my stamina and perhaps dexterity.
Nothing here anymore, sorry!
