Henry slouched next to Jackie as the Alphard negotiated the morning crawl en route to the Vina-Go office. She was beaming with a sparkle in her eyes.
“Somebody looks chirpy today,” he said, noticing her bright and cheerful countenance.
“How do you do it, Jackie? I’ve hardly recovered from yesterday’s session, and I even dozed off the moment I got into my room. And I actually slept with my jacket on!”
“Yeah, tell me about it… I’m still recovering from a crazy hangover,” Daphne groaned from the rear seat.
“What makes you two think I don’t have a hangover myself?” Jackie responded.
“Well, if you do, then you sure have a weird way of showing it!” Henry retorted.
Jackie chuckled.
“I was up earlier and had coffee with Bob before he left.”
Instantly, he perked up and gazed at Jackie in feigned surprise, like he had a long list of questions he was planning to ask.
“A-ha! Now, that explains everything… Just coffee?” he remarked cheekily.
