Ten days after her death the witch's curse started to show its dark side. 

The princes and the princesses got sick. The empress was bedridden with an unknown number of sores and blisters on her face. The small kingdom was plagued with drought and the once lustrous kingdom fell off its grace in just a few days

the emperor was disheartened by this. So, he had summoned an expert priest to help them.

The priest took one look at the palace and said it was haunted by the ghost of a witch.
