The old man's body was weak, so he was easily affected. It made sense when she thought about it this way.

"Maybe that old lady, who died mysteriously at home, died because the ghost left her body."

A human would naturally die after a ghost absorbed his vital energy.

This also explained why the old lady's face was completely black after her death. How could she still look good after her vital energy had been sucked away?
