Star Spangled spat out blood but he was unscathed. As for Brutus Terratus, he realized that his forearm stung a bit, and it surprised him that Star Spangled actually managed to land a hit on his forearm on that small window when he materialized his entire body.

As someone from the Terratus Tribe, Brutus has the special ability to turn into sand and become invincible in that form. Of course, there was a limit to what he could do on that form, and his energy wasn't infinite either. That's why he kept his usage of that superpower to a minimum.

After all, if Brutus could freely transform into his sand form and use it indefinitely, then there was no need for him to expose his entire body.

Somehow, Star Spangled managed to get all that in a couple of seconds. He had fought his fair share of villains and brought them down with his skills and superpower alone. Besides, fighting someone who could transform into an element was nothing new to his vocabulary.
