My voice choked.

Jing Ni's gaze wavered. "Nanxing, I didn't mean..."

"Yes, you do!" I said. "Since you came back, you refused to admit Sky City and me into your confidence. You act on your own. You don't discuss anything with me. You don't care about us anymore. You look down on us for failing to protect you. You are angry with us!"

Tears fell from my eyes. I knew how unreasonable I was, but Jing Ni was being unreasonable too.

Jing Ni stood up to hug me. "Nanxing, no, it's not like that. I can't implicate you and Sky City! I'd rather die than see you get hurt by them! Nanxing, you're my best friend. I can't let you get injured because of me!"

Jing Ni hugged me and started crying.

I hugged her and patted her back. "Are you dumb? Do you think I'll stand and watch as you hurt yourself? Why are you so stupid?"
