Bab 24: The Ambassador from the North Part 2

Heading towards the balcony of the mansion, the Protection Squadron has already finished their preparation. Wearing their uniforms and carrying their weapons. Inside their mind, they rehearsed the march so that they couldn't fucked it up during their show of military might.

Though it's an understatement to call it military, they might only have 350 PS to march, which is very little compared to the modern military.

As soon as they arrived at the balcony, the ambassador was granted view from above, he peered below and saw the soldiers marching in unison, their bodies forward head gazing up at them, arms straightened in the air. It was perfectly synced as if they are one collective organism. Every time they strike the ground with their feet, the earth trembles a little. Peter who was watching above wasn't expecting something like this. They look scary and amazing at the same time. They walked with confidence, pride, and discipline. And somehow, subconsciously, liking it.

The march continued, Peter didn't bother to know the use of the cylindrical wood or why the guards don't carry swords.

But the message the UNSP wanted to deliver, he received it. That they are willing to protect their interest and ideology if one gets in their way.

"What do you think? Peter." Ernest asked from behind. "Isn't that the greatest thing you've ever seen?"

"As...much as I hate to admit it, yeah...I agree...the march is amazing. But are you willing to go that far? I mean Duke Gustav is powerful, not only he has thousands of armies but a secret weapon that could destroy one city in one go." Peter said.

As Ernest heard that, he trembled slightly on his feet. "What did you just say? A secret weapon that could destroy a city in one go."

He was not scared at the fact that the duke has thousands of army but a weapon that could exterminate a city? Is there such a weapon in the fantasy world?

Now that he had thought of that, yes, there might be a possibility. He's been watching anime and reading light novels where the overpowered protagonist can cleave mountains, magic similar to a low-yield nuclear weapon. If that's the case then his party would be doomed.

Not only that, fantasy creatures exist here. For example a wyvern…

He gasped inwardly and leaned his face towards Lex who was standing beside him.

Lex nodded and whispered to him. "Wyvern serves as the primary force in airpower. I believe that there are 500 wyverns left in the Kingdom of Crentis."

By that information, Ernest can tell that there is another flying creature in this world more powerful than the wyvern. Dragons for example.

Ernest perfectly hid his troubled expression, not wanting to give the enemy ambassador any hint of him breaking down inside.

This is what happens when he lacks information.

Ernest didn't answer Peter's question but only beckoned him to watch his magnificent Protection Squadron.

As soon as the military march ended, Ernest spoke.

"We are expecting some kind of retaliation from the other cities, especially from the duke. Unfortunately, we can't trade with you as I already issued a decree to embargo Duke Gustav's dominion. The reason being is your unfair trade, which is justified."

"Okay." Peter nodded, "What you say is true, Duke Gustav will surely retaliate. He's overzealous and madly loyal to the king and will do everything in his power to wipe all of you."

"If he has that kind of power why not use it to the Empire."

"The Empire has a lot of powerful arsenals." Peter simply said. "Can we leave now?"

"Yes of course," Ernest said as he placed his hand onto Lex's shoulder. Indicating something.

As the ambassador from Duke Gustav's dominion left, Ernest conducted an emergency meeting after learning of a new threat.

"This is why I hate having no information about the other cities. Why are we so behind in information when there is a newspaper in this world?"

It was their first time seeing Ernest that agitated.

"Why? What happened Volksfuhrer?" Sophia asked.

"Is it true that wyverns exist in this world? And Duke Gustave having a secret weapon that can obliterate a city?"

"Not technically obliterate." Lex's raised his hand, "Volksfuhrer, I've heard of a story of Duke Gustave's weapon. It was ten years ago when the country was at war with the Kingdom of Elba. He used a weapon called the Spear of Divine Fiery Heavens and razed the city with its blazing flames. It's a magic weapon, Volksfuhrer."

Spear of Divine Fiery Heavens? Ernest inwardly repeated the name of the weapon, it sounded like it came out from fantasy.

"And so do we have countermeasures to prevent that spear from blazing our entire city?"

"Unfortunately there was none."

Ernest clicked his tongue, is there really no way?

"How is it being used? Does Duke Gustav march with his army and throw the spear?"

"Close, he can throw the spear wherever he wants, despite the distance. For example, Gustave's dominion is 300 kilometers away, he can throw his spear from that distance and the spear would still arrive here."

"So it's similar to a missile," Ernest muttered.

"Pardon sir?"

"No never mind, I think I got what I need to know. Thank you, Lex. Continue spreading the word of UNSP throughout the city."

"Understood Volksfuhrer."

"Guilhem, can you pull out some manpower in the factory to build a countermeasure against this heavenly spear?"

"I can pull out my coworkers in my workshop which are all dwarves...are you saying sir that you have a weapon that can stop the spear?"

"Is there such a thing? Please forgive my manners Volksfuhrer, but the Spear of Divine Fiery Heavens can't be stopped when thrown."

"Let's see about that." Ernest calmly said. "Guilhem, pull out some of your dwarves, we are going to create something. And Sophia, I have a lack of knowledge when it comes to magic, do you perhaps know something about magic?"

"Yes, Volksfuhrer," Sophia confirmed. "From what I learned from the books I read before about magic, this world's magic comes in two forms:.." Sophia continued.

According to Sophia, this world's magic comes in two forms. And those are small-scale tactical magic and large-scale war magic.

The first scale is small-scale tactical magic. It's akin to tactical arms. It's quick, single-phrased spells that can do things like 'summon gusts of wind that can cleave through metal,' shoot bullets of ice,' and 'create bursts of flames large enough to blow a house,'. The other one is large-scale war magic. This kind of magic is more like strategic arms. It requires rituals that take years to perform, but one spell can raze an entire town.

"There are only a few people on the continent, Duke Gustav Elm is one of them," Lex added.

It was at this moment he knew that the world here is big. His power of summoning modern technology is overpowered but when it comes to weapons that are similar to modern weaponry, he'd say it's balance.

But his tyrant system is the only weapon of the UNSP. With that new information, he now has a reason to summon powerful machines. But since its industrialization act is already in place, he'll only have to rely on efficient, powerful, easy-to-use, and convenient weapons.

"I understand the situation, but I can assure you we are not cornered."

This world has both magic and people who ride dragons in a battle. Simply put, they have access to aerial warfare. That means he can't leave his skies undefended.

Ernest stood up from his seat, the others followed suit.

"I hope that Duke Gustave won't attack us early. Winter is coming soon anyways but it's better to be prepared. Guilhem, I'll deliver a new set of weapons to your workshop and I want you to use your ability as a dwarf to manufacture those."

"We already have supplies from the mines and factories. It'll be easy as long as you give me a blueprint to whatever weapons you want me to build."

"Everyone, I want you to work as usual. Our fight with the Duke is inevitable and the ambassador will surely notify the duke about our existence."

"If that's the case sir then why did you let the ambassador go?" Wayne asked.

"I think Lex can answer your question."

Lex glanced at Alwin who was curious for answers.

"The reason we let the ambassador go is for two things. First, we can't just keep the revolutionary ideals to ourselves, we have to export them. Second, it serves as a message that to those who cling to the power of the Empire and not to the Kingdom of Crentis, then they'll share the same fate with Lord Enrico and other nobles who believed the Empire will save them."

"Just as he said, we sent the ambassador away to make a statement...."

The system chimed.

[Congratulations you've completed the quest: Brand your Movement.]

[New main quest unlocked.]

Seeing that, Ernest jubilated inwardly. "That's all everyone, thank you for coming here despite your busy schedules."

After he said that, they performed a salute.
