Lucas only had one reason for looking so hesitant— He didn't know how Clyde might react to what he was about to say.
He felt torn, somehow a part of him wanted to hide the truth because Ryley might not want Clyde to find out about his attempt to end his life. However, after considering it again, Lucas decided that Clyde had the right to know the truth.
"Sir... Mr. Ryley attempted to commit suicide..." He whispered after leaning closer, "Fortunately, Mr. Sean saw it and stopped him."
The news came like a thunder, hammering straight into Clyde's conscience and breaking him to pieces. He didn't even question the credibility or suspect Lucas of covering up for Sean. Guilt and anger rumbled his heart right at that instant, what he thought was the best thing to do only resulted in the worst outcome.
Terror painted his face pale as a surge of harrowing flooded his chest, pushing his body to move on its own, as if he was about to sprint back to Ryley's ward.
