In terms of strength, Olaf was even stronger than the party's leader.
However, John Bellford unsheathed his sword and moved forward. Paul recognized him as well. John was a beginner acolyte who was roughly unknown. His life changed dramatically the moment he subjugated an orc settlement, following Arthur Landragon's leadership.

John could trade blow with the monster Olaf, with ease. Although Olaf seemed slightly stronger, John was more elegant, moving his sword swiftly and smoothly. Olaf seemed helpless. He was clearly stronger and sturdier, yet each blow resulted in a cut. Each time he commited to an attack, he would scream in pain from a blade almost claiming his life.
Meanwhile, Paul unsheathed a book and started to chant an incantation. It was a consumable magical trinket that could be used to summon a golem, but before he could finish, Paul had to roll on the ground so as to avoid an incoming blade.
[Evangeline Fallister]
Paul recognized her immediately. If William and John were slightly famous, then Evangeline was well-known throughout the Ivory Tower. There were only slightly more than 200 acolytes in the tower. Among them, only a handful beginner acolytes could boast as much fame as she did.
Evangeline was a terrifying woman, whose surname was [Vixen]. Although she was a strong healer, her poison mastery earned her the [Vixen] Title. Using her knight-level physique, she was naturally agile and could easily poison her opponents to death. She was also known to possess a magical artefact increasing her ability to heal others, making her an incredible trump card in attrition wars.

"Aren't you afraid? The Arcane Faction can track us!", Paul shouted in an attempt to save his life.
However, as he turned his head towards Emma, he realized the dreadful truth. Their opponents were toying with them.
Emma was slowly agonizing on the ground, two arrows having crippled each one of her knees. She was not even screaming, her body having seemingly turned off her pain. She was in a state of shock, barely conscious.
Evangeline smiled: "How disgusting. A rat is talking to me! Should I cut his fingers first?"
Arthur Landragon observed the situation and sighed: "No need"
Paul's eyes suddenly turned to the sky. There were clouds.
'Had the sky always been so beautiful and so vast?', he thought before realizing...that the headless body in his field of vision was his.
A worthless, unexplained death in the Plains of Death.
Paul Gabes was the son of a merchant. His father had made him into a squire, and he followed the Baron Moose. One day, he was tested and sent to the ivory tower after awakening magical talent. He had dreams. Dreams of becoming a noble, starting a new House, and contributing to the Porfield Kingdom.
However, his life was ended before he could grow.
The world was so unfair.
