Bab 80: Retribution

Orion's heart felt like it stopped for a moment, and everything froze in its place as the portal closed in front of him faster than it opened.

He leapt forward, falling over himself. There was nothing there but empty space. She was gone. Syraah was gone. He had no idea if she could live through the wound of the arrow. From what he saw, the blow was deadly.

He slammed his fists into the ground and cursed at himself. He shouldn't have left her. This was his fault. He stood up from the floor and looked around, realizing he was surround by darkness. He felt for the vial around his neck and his heart ached. Syraah did all of this for him. She risked her life for him. He didn't deserve her. He didn't deserve her life. What did he really deserve anyway?
