Bab 53: Chapter 052
Alex patted the head of the Beldum following him. He was determined to get this Pokemon.
"Beldum is from the Hoenn region isn't it Profesor?" asked Alex.
"It was originally found in the Hoenn region, and the highest population of this species live in the Hoenn region. But I found a colony in the depths of Mount Silver a while back, deep in an S rated area. Whether the colony migrated from Hoenn or originated from Kanto is unclear, but considering that there is an ocean in between the two regions, I think the possibility of them migrating is unlikely" said Professor Oak.
In this world, the Kanto region and the Johto region were on the same continent, separated by a gigantic mountain range, called the Silver Mountain Range. Mount Silver was the biggest mountain, in both this mountain range and the rest of the world. Hoenn region was about 20 days away from the south of the continent on a standard vessel. The Sinnoh region was located to the east of Kanto, while the Unova region was even further to the west. The Kalos region was a recently discovered continent even further south of the Hoenn region. Other than that, there was an abundance of islands dotted in between the continents.
Each of the regions, save Kanto and Johto, were a large distance from each other, separated by enormous oceans. Until the Pokemon Alliance was established, people were wholly ignorant of other regions. But after the establishment of the Pokemon Alliance, there was segregation of roles like healthcare personnel, researchers, police, rangers, and trainers. People did not need to know a little bit of everything and they could finally focus solely on their field of expertise. The various fields developed rapidly, and the population kept increasing. Exploration became a popular trend, and some explorers with powerful Pokemon and decent vessels brought back news of various undiscovered continents, resources, and Pokemon. This led to the exploration frenzy, and communication technologies and shipbuilding developed rapidly. Now, there were 5 continents and 6 regions, each with its unique Pokemon. The trend of exploration contained, and the possibility of discovering new land remained.
Generally speaking, Pokemon of one region wouldn't be found in another. But it was not a 100% true. Some Pokemon will be found in multiple regions. The explanation for their existence was largely unknown, though some people argued that trainers or powerful Pokemon transported them thousands of years ago, while some argued that all the continents were once one, and a battle between Legendary Pokemon split apart the continent. But neither argument was irrefutable true.
"There is a colony of Metagross deep in Mount Silver? Why don't people know about it?" asked Alex shocked. People would go crazy if they found the existence of wild pseudo-legendaries. Wild pseudo-legendaries were very very rare.
"First of all, It's deep in an S rated area. I only reached there because I was caught up in some research and was lost. It's nearly inaccessible. Secondly even if some people know, the leader of the colony is very powerful. Even I am unsure of beating that Metagross. And as you know, The Beldum line tend to live in colonies, connected to each other telepathically. So it's impossible to capture a single Beldum and escape unscathed. I can't reach that place again if I tried, and as such, the colony is still undisturbed" said Professor Oak.
"How did you get this Beldum?" asked Alex.
"Troubles of a Shiny wild Pokemon. It was expelled from the tribe and the telepathic connection of the colony. I suspect it is the offspring of the leader of that tribe, due to some factors, but even so, it was ostracised by the colony because it looked different from the rest of the Beldum. I found it wandering at the edge of the colony, severely weakened and malnourished, close to dying. I then caught it and brought it here. The Metagross either didn't notice, or even if it did, didn't care. After bringing it here, it was and still is fed great food and energy rich metals to eat, thus it is healthy and developing well. But it still is lonely and cannot make friends. I guess it no longer trusts people or Pokemon after what it went through in its childhood" said Professor Oak.
Alex felt sad for the Beldum and kept stroking its head. The Beldum closed its eyes and let out a ringing sound.
"Beldum seems to like you" said Professor Oak. He sighed, and then said, "Beldum is unsuitable for beginners as it has one-dimensional attacks. It can only use headbutt in battle, either covering it in Psychic energy or Steel energy. And it can't propel itself very high with the weak electromagnetic force it has. It needs 5 years to slowly accumulate energy and evolve. If you are qualified then, you can be its trainer."
