Bab 32: Chapter 16
'So you wanna quit being a hero. I mean by now you should know you don't have that many options.' The system said.
Toya frowned, 'What do you mean?'
'You can't be that stupid. What will happen when you attack Yakuza and save the girl. The Hero Commission won't just stand back. Even though if they don't take the girl right away from you, they will suspect you first.' The system continued, 'How you got so well to attack the Yakuza the second time, not being conscious over six months. How do you know their base, and all the fun stuff? And one of them just needs to point out that the main thief has a quirk similar to flames. Flames that are blue, which are your specialty.'
Toya opened his mouth to say anything, but he couldn't. He was frustrated and angry. "So what should I do?" he grunted, feeling helpless.
'Then you should hold off from attacking the Yakuza base and saving your little friend. For now. At least for two months, if you don't want the attention that would come later.'
"Do you even know what you are saying?" He demanded, "That girl is out there and suffering right now."
'Yes, but they won't kill her.' The system said, 'Also, think about it, the moment you save her. Not only people associated with the Yakuza, meaning his class criminals would start to look for her, the Hero Association would also do the same.'
Toya wasn't ignorant to that, but leaving her wouldn't be right. She was just a child.
'I am not saying that you should leave her. But if you have to be a hero, there is no other way.' The system said, 'You should at least get your official Hero-License first, then attack the Yakuza base.'
Toya didn't say anything, the system had a point there. But was he being true to himself, true to his ideals, if he were to leave the kid for two whole months.
'This way even if you save the girl, you being an official hero the Association wouldn't be able to directly take any steps. And you can also come up with an explanation that you did your own investigation and found their base. You won't get connected to the Classified Info Hist that way, either. Things should be cooled off by then.'
Toya couldn't even get angry at the system's points. "Then you want me to do nothing? That girl has been there for six months already… And god knows how long before I found her."
'I am just doing this to keep you alive. Now that you cleared out my trail, I will make you stronger.' The system said, 'With you current strength, even at your peak health, you are weak. The only reason you were able to attack and almost get away is that they let their guards down. And you kinda back-stabbed them, it wasn't even considered a fight.'
"I did pretty well against Overhaul." Toya said, "I should be able to defeat him again."
'But Overhaul was alone at that time, and let his guard down. Eir's help was another factor. Now they will be prepared, in six months with how much famous Yakuza is now, breaking in would be a nightmare…' The system continued, 'Also, the Hero Association doesn't particularly like you, so if they want to get rid of you. The system didn't say anything for quite some time, then spoke again, 'You can of course level up and get strong and maybe attack the Yakuza hideout when you are strong enough. You might be able to fend against the Hero Association, but are you willing to let go of your dream of being a hero.'
The last statement made Toya grit his teeth. He always longed to be a hero. It was always his dreams… and the world needed heroes, real ones. But at the same time Eri…
After some time Toya spoke again. "Fine…" he said, with his fists balled up. He felt helpless inside. "We will do it your way. We will wait."
Was it right? Deep down he knew it wasn't. He shook his head, he would think about it later. When his head was cooled off.
