Bab 24: Demise
Travis's pov,
We hid in the grass of the forest for half an hour. We were waiting for them to return.
I incessantly told her, "Don't get too anxious or tensed. It will be bad for our child."
She said to me, "I'm not. I just wondering."
I told her, "You can trust me. I'll always protect you."
She said, "I know I can blindly rely on you. But now I want to go to your place."
I tilted her head and placed it on my shoulder. I told her, "Take a nap on my shoulder for now ."
She agreed and fell asleep for an hour. When I put her in my arms to go to my place, she woke up. After she woke up, she told me in a shy voice, "Put me down, I can walk."
When I refused, she insisted. So I put her down. We were walking the way home. Suddenly, Zelda approached and stopped us. I told her, "Hey, how are you doing? Why are you here?"
She said to me, "I'm not doing well as you refused to be with me. Since I saw you, I always want to be with you. But you couldn't understand my feeling."
I told her, "I'm sorry but I already told you that I had a desire to be with my fated one. And since I'm not your destined mate, you will find yours after a certain age. So don't be sad about it."
She smirked and said, "You'll never understand my feeling until this stupid girl disappeared from your life. Huh."
I said with a shivering voice, "What do you mean by this?"
She told me, "I've already informed her family that you guys are here and they are coming to take her away from you by force. They already reached."
I asked, "How did you-?" A prediction of what she could do came to my mind. I said, "Don't tell me-"
She said, "Yeah you're right. They were looking for her because I told them to came and take her back to them. As far as I know, she is your mate for whom you reject me. So when I knew about it. I immediately went to them. "
I slapped her and said, "You evil wretch, you will have to pay the price for this."
We were about to run away, but her father caught us. He came forward with a gun, pointed at me. He told me, "Because you stole what's mine, you had to die now."
At that time, my dad came with some of his pack-pals. They came and put us behind them. Her father's soldiers shoot a bullet at one of us. From that, both sides began to fight. When they began it, my dad told me to escape from there. So I do as he told me. But her father noticed it and shoot at me. Although it didn't go through me. It went into my mate's belly where our child had just begun to grow up. I was shocked. I couldn't believe my own eyes. She plopped on the ground. There is a lot of from her belly and mouth. I quickly grab her, put her in my arms, and ran as fast as I could to save her. I was running till I find a hospital.
When I was running, she said while crying, "Save me. I don't wanna die now before my delighted days were coming. I wanna give birth to this child to you and lead my dream life with you. Please save me."
We went to the worst hospital where the needy medical instruments of a bullet were out from her body. Her time was limited so she couldn't wait for me and left me behind. She died on this hand of mine.
I broke down in tears so loudly and kept telling her, "Please don't die, don't leave me behind. please, not now when I already make you mine and have a child. If you wanna go take me you."
I kept crying but no one wiped my tears or tell me to stop crying. She didn't open her eyes and her body became cold. It's called algor mortis which means she's on the second step of death. I couldn't believe what was happening then. We were happy just a few hours ago. We were even deciding what will be our child's name. I was so disappointed with her because she leaves from me with my child. Although I was disappointed in myself because I couldn't save her even after I promised her that I would save her anyway. I also wanted to die then.
After I returned with her dead body, I saw my dad was lying on the ground. I went near to him. When I touched his body I felt his body has become so cold like my mate Sierra. After a while, I get to know that my old granny and grandpa also died. Then I along with pack mates buried them beside my mom. After few days, my aunt and uncle came here and saw that misfortune of mine. They came here to give back Trena to us. But when they saw none survived and my situation that time, they took her with them and raised her.
After that, I always thought about this incident as my fault. I kept thinking, "In this unexpected conflict, I had lost not only my one and only mate whom I loved the most as she did but also my beloved family members. I had a fit of anger at myself why I couldn't save my whole family along with my own destined mate. It seemed like I was living without a soul.
