Magic was an essence of one's being, the very soul that powered their existence.
As such, you could tell even the innermost workings of one's mind through contact with their magic. It was a foreign feeling but not one you could control.
Keito had expected himself to be overwhelmed when the other began to channel his magic into him. They had decided to start inside their room, lest something went wrong and they needed a place to lay Keito afterwards.
There was a soft and small hand on the alpha's chest and a pair of blue eyes deep in concentration right in front of his face which he could not look away from.
And then there was the wave of soft energy that was flowing into his very being, soft and effortless. It was so far away from the horrors he had heard about, of the foreign magic tearing the victim apart or affecting the wielder in negative ways.
There had even been times when the magic had been too incompatible, causing massive damage for both parties involved and Keito had been concerned.
Not particularly for himself since his wolf was resilient and could take a dashing or two. No, he had simply been more afraid for the omega right in front of him who looked on the verge of fainting, his face covered in a sheen of sweat.
He wanted to wipe it away but the comforting feeling of the magic circulating inside his core did not allow him that luxury at all.
'It's comfortable, warm' his wolf seemed more than happy to lap up the magic, almost rolling his fluffy fur in the magic waves that were flowing inside his body and Keito found himself jealous of his wolf.
'Pay attention' he snapped, his mood a little sour that the wolf could physically feel the magic when he had to make do with simply feeling it roll inside. It was a pleasant feeling but the connection was too faint between him and the magic that the fox was bestowing him with.
"Is it supposed to feel this detached? I can hardly feel it at all" the fox seemed surprised at his words, the flow of energy breaking for just a few seconds.
A few precious seconds in which his wolf wined for the loss before the wave was back, just as gentle as ever.
"Don't worry, it's normal and for your own safety. Magic can be 'overwhelming' for most first time users. Making it less sensitive just lessens the risk" Kaito bit his tongue to stop himself from making any controversial statement that would out him to the other.
It was a visible effort but one that was well worth the effort.
The fox took a few more minutes before the flow of magic ebbed slowly and came to a stop. Kaito was not sure when he had closed his eyes but when he opened them, his gaze sought out the blue one in front of him.
The pressure on his chest was still there and the fox looked to be a little too deep in his thoughts to notice him, his face a little whiter than what was normal.
The magic settled down, his body feeling warm and tingling with the residual energy it had to carry and his hands involuntarily sought out the one on his chest.
There was a small flinch in that lovely face as soon as the fox guessed his intentions but the hand did not move at all.
It was icy cold to the touch, his hand feeling the temperature even more acutely with the extra energy warming him.
His other hand sought out the fox's pale face, the first one doing it's best to keep the fox in place with a tight grip on that hand.
As soon as the fox had guessed his intentions there was a soft pull on his hand and the slight shiver from the cold actually managed to shake the body badly. The face was as cold as the hand, not a hint of warmth available in the whole body anywhere.
'Not good, too cold. Need to warm mate, need to shift but can't' his wolf looked distraught at the prospect of the other being cold and as much as he wanted to ignore the wolf, he could not because he agreed with his wolf.
The other was too cold and he needed to do something to warm the other. The easiest way would have been to shift into his other form, a giant wolf and warm the other but that was looking to be impossible at the moment.
Despite the magic flowing through him, it was not his own and hence it would not allow him to shift.
But he wanted to and badly at that.
"Don't worry, it's just a side effect of transferring muted magic. My body heat will come in a few minutes but enough about that. We need to have you master your magic before tomorrow so we can't waste any more time" the fox's voice did not betray any discomfort he must have been feeling with his body at such a low body temperature and Kaito frowned.
"It's not a waste of time if it is to make you comfortable. I don't mind waiting a few seconds" Kaito replied back, trying and failing to make his voice softer. The irritation at the other not looking after himself slipped into his voice.
'Be gentle, mate is delicate' his wolf scolded and Kaito flinched at his own tone. Maybe he could have been gentler with his tone.
Not that the other looked that much affected.
"Few seconds can be the difference between death and survival. Besides, I'm already beginning to recover. By the time we reach the training grounds, I'll be fully alright. If you would allow me my hand back I will be grateful" Kaito looked down in embarrassment as his hand almost threw the hand it was holding.
The fox looked amused for a few seconds but soon went back to his usual expression and turned around. There was a look passed down his way that clearly said 'follow me' and the alpha did without much fuss.
'Whipped. And you are blushing' Kaito would like to tell his wolf that he was not blushing, it was just the heat of the magic that was making it seem so.
He took a stealthy look at the other who genuinely looked in better health, just by a fraction though.
By the time they arrived at the clear grounds Kaito's fingers were itching to check on the omega once again. He really wanted to assure himself and his somewhat restless wolf that the other really was alright but he was not sure how it would go over with the other.
"Please stretch yourself before we actually begin" the fox seemed to be looking at him, assessing him and Kaito took the time to observe his surroundings.
The field was bare of trees and other obstacles, nothing in sight as far as eyes could see and he instantly knew that it had to be made with magical assistance. Despite the declination of magic, this place sure had a lot of magical connections.
Since he was not sure what the other wanted him to do, he followed the other's instructions and stretched his body to the best of his capabilities.
His body flew and stretched far easier than any other time and he knew it was partially due to the magic the other had bestowed him with. It took all but a few minutes before he felt ready and turned toward the other.
He had to swallow the saliva that was no doubt gathering inside his mouth at the sinful scene right in front of him.
The fox was in the middle of a stretch, the thin body almost bent in half and the wolf found himself looking at an all too inappropriate place all of a sudden.
His cheeks burned but he couldn't tear his eyes away from that place.
'Let's fuck patience and pounce at him now. He's defenceless and depleted in magic' his wolf had all too many ideas someone his age should not have for a lifelong friend, omega or not but now that his wolf was egging him on, he found it all too appealing.
'Bad thoughts, no. Think about Jess, I love her' he tried to distract himself but it was all to no avail. Even she could not stop his imagination from running wild and the burning feeling became a little more prominent.
He really wanted to run from here as fast as he could.
All too soon the omega straightened and the alpha felt glad but also disappointed.
'Bummer' his wolf called out and with a mortifying realisation, Kaito realised that he agreed with him. And then the omega walked closer to him.
I just types my fav chapter today and I really want to get to it soon.
In the meantime, please enjoy this and add this to your collections. It helps me a lot
