The time flew by for the students of the magic academy without them making much progress in controlling magic energy. Unlike Elliot, who only needed to perform hand signs to activate the energy control technique that allows him to control the god's Qi present in his body as he wills, the rest of the students needed to train in a lot of ways to control their magic energy. God's Qi is made out of the mixture of the essence of life and magic energy, and thus, it is a type of energy that has a life on its own, and so it can understand the thoughts of its owner and respond to their commands.

The same doesn't go for the magic energy.

A magician needed to maintain a constant release of magic energy and use a lot of focus to release it outside one's body and control its movement, respectively.
