Se-Young’s heart was still in dismay after what happened and she was currently chopping the vegetables for the dinner but her mind was not focused on it. “Are you trying to chop your hand or what?” Dong-Hoon said raising his eyebrows towards her, his expressions showed that he was angry.
Getting into reality she realized that the knife was facing upwards and clearing her throat, she turned the knife and again started with the chopping. “Give it to me.” he said taking the knife from her and slightly pushed her away from the cutting board.
“I know that you don’t like my cooking but no need to meddle in my work.” she sighed, dropping her head.
Dong-Hoon sighed as well shaking his head. “I am just helping you.”
“Who needs your help.” she looked away while swallowing.
“I never said you need my help, I am willingly doing it.” he said nonchalantly, shrugging his shoulders. Se-Young was just looking at him with her tilted head. “Come on, I never said that I am going to cook all the food alone.” he pointed his chin towards the stove.
Sighing in defeat, she just accepted his help as both of them worked together.
“Smiling a bit will not hurt you.” Se-Young did not give any reply to him.
“Look, you are just going to affect your health like this and nothing else. If you really don’t care about him then don’t think. Thinking unnecessarily will give you anxiety and anxiety will trigger your asthma.” he was saying all this calmly as if trying to make a child understand and Se-Young was nodding her head at each of his words.
“Yes, he does not matter to me. I have been happy without him and I will stay happy.” she smiled at Dong-Hoon and he smiled back, feeling satisfied that his words really made her feel good. “Good.” he ruffled her hair and she widened her eyes and stepped back from him. “What... are you doing?” her heart fluttered at this mere gesture.
“Why? I saw that guy ruffling your hair as well. You did not mind him doing that.” the corners of his mouth went down and Se-Young found that really cute.
“Stop it and pay attention to the food.” smiling to herself she continued her work, now that Dong-Hoon also smiled now that she was totally distracted by her father’s topic.
“By the way, I don’t hate your cooking. Actually, you are a great chef.” the smile never left his face.
Se-Young looked at him dumbfounded, she knew that he was always picking on her but she never imagined that he will accept it and praise her cooking ever. She cleared her throat. “Well then I think you have a great taste.” both of them laughed at the silly and awkward conversation they were having now.
...
As everyone was having dinner together Jung-Nan nudged Min-Hoon while raising her eyebrows and pointing her chin at their children.
Min-Hoon sighed placing his chopsticks on the bowl, he just could not refuse to Jung-Nan weird demands. “So, about the business event, if Hani is fine with it then both of you can go together, or if not then it is not that big of a deal.” he said to Tae-Hoon and Hani.
“I am fine with it.” Hani said as Min-Hoon nodded in approval.
“Ji-Hoon, what about you?” he asked.
Ji-Hoon cleared his throat with awkwardness. “I will pick up my friend on the way.”
“Friend or...” Jung-Nan was giving him a suggestive smirk. “Yes, a friend.” he made it clear and she just rolled her eyes at him.
“And you would not have asked someone to be your date, right.” Jung-Nan said sarcastically to Dong-Hoon and he choked on his saliva and hurriedly chugged down the water.
“Then what about you Se-Young?” Jung-Nan gave her a sweet smile.
Frowning her eyebrows in confusion Se-Young asked, “What about me?”
“Why don’t you join us as Dong-Hoon’s date to the event.”
It was now Se-Young’s turn to choke while in the meantime Jung-Nan gave a wink to Dong-Hoon, his eyes widened in realization, what Jung-Nan was up to and he secretly gave her a thumbs up. “I...” she scratched the back of her neck not knowing what to say.
“Then it’s decided. Se-Young would be joining us.” Jung-Nan said without waiting for a proper answer from her and Tae-Hoon was laughing silently at the awkward expression on Se-Young’s face and Hani looked at him with heart in her eyes, it had been very few times after the marriage that he had openly showed his emotions like that and it was happening more frequently now that the brothers have patched up.
…
“Are you fine with it, I mean if you don’t want to then I can talk to mom.” Dong-Hoon said as both of them were going to Hotel together since her scooty was still there.
“No, it is fine, you helped me twice. I can do this much for you.” Dong-Hoon nodded his head looking away and smiling to himself. When they reached the Hotel and were passing through the lobby Yoon-Hwa them from behind and squinted her eyes at them.
“I forgot to tell you there was a man outside the Hotel asking for you when you were on the vacation. He was in his fifties and was really skinny.” Yoon-Hwa said remembering the event just now.
Se-Young realized that Yoon-Hwa was probably talking about her father. “Oh, I don’t know someone like that.” she said and wondered from where he found out that she worked in this Hotel, maybe he saw the live broadcast when the King and Queen of England came to visit.
“Hmmm.” Yoon-Hwa hummed nodding her head nonchalantly but changed her expression next second to a playful one. “What is with you and Mr. Shim?” she wriggled her eyebrows.
Se-Young sighed shaking her head and instead of the truth, she told her that her scooty had some problems so Dong-Hoon gave her a ride. “Actually, I need to go somewhere and I don’t have much time. So, I would really appreciate it if you are going to do your work peacefully and let me do mine as well.” Se-Young gave a tight-lipped smile to her but ignoring her request Yoon-Hwa asked, “Where?”
