“Why does Selina get to play host?” Clara asked, arms over her chest as she stood in Cherise’s kitchen, glaring. “She’s already proven her loyalty is not with us. How do we know she’ll do what’s necessary when the time comes?”

Cherise sat at her kitchen table, a cup of coffee in front of her as she stared at the indignant woman. She had called some emergency window repair company as soon as she woke up after Tansy hit her with that sleeping spell. She didn’t need anyone else knowing that bitch got the upper hand. The first thing Cherise did when she woke up was to check the Darkness, but she found it unharmed, pulsing in the woods, sucking on the little life that remained out there. Cherise knew she would have to do something about that meddlesome witch soon, or everything would be wasted.
