Bab 14: Chapter 14: Hard Tides

--- Narrator ---
A man steps foot onto the docks. He has dark brown hair, amber eyes, and recognizable mutton chops. He glances in the direction of the palace and smiles menacingly.
--- MC POV ---
A few days after my duel with Iroh, the tension in the palace seemed to have magnified a few times. Ursa hasn't been bringing me any meals and Iroh was watching me practice the basics of fire bending, but someone delivered a letter to Iroh. He read it, furrowed his brow, and left with an "I'm sorry Prince Sasuke, I will be away for a few days." Not mentioning what was on the letter at all.
Azula now doesn't seem as fixated on me. She would pass by and watch one day, then not be there for a few days. She seems to have gotten more serious about her training.
I'm not sure why the tension in the palace feels so thick. It's starting to affect my training.
'Maybe I should take a break'
I found a stopping point and went inside to clean up. Once finished I was going to the kitchen to order some food from our chefs but I saw a letter placed on the bedroom dresser on my way out.
'It reminds me of the letter Iroh received'
Picking it up, I read it.
'Be wary' is all it said.
Burning the letter in my hands I left for my lunch. Whatever test Azulan had for me, I must have already passed it or he forgot. Nobody came to find me for this test, and I already stopped attending the academy.
I walk a little around the palace when I see a crowd of soldiers being led by a man with disgusting mutton chops. They seem to be headed towards the throne room…My curiosity has been piqued.
I erase my presence and follow them. As they reach the throne room, only the leading man with mutton chops goes inside. I already have a hidden path for coming and going inside the throne room for whenever I want to spy on my 'oh so great father'.
--- Ozai POV ---
"You have finally arrived, Lieutenant Zhao," My father said. He sits on his throne while I await by his right side watching this new arrival.
"Yes! I greet Fire lord Azulan! I greet prince Ozai" said Zhao. He politely goes on his knee before us in subservience.
"Speak Zhao, what have you found in the hidden library described in your letter?" said Azulan.
"I discovered a vast hidden spirit library in the Si Wong desert. It was difficult to find because it was mostly buried but it contained information regarding the world and all of its secrets. In order to aid our empire with its conquest, I learned of two things of great importance. First, I destroyed the section of the library containing our own nation's secrets." Zhao said.
"Hm? What secrets did you discover?" I asked.
"Just like Sozin's comet that will come in a few years, so too will an eclipse come before that will leave all fire benders without bending for a limited time. If our enemies were to attack at this time…" Zhao trailed off in suspense.
"Indeed…For this is a good deed Zhao. What was the second thing you found?" Asked Azulan.
This small man Zhao now gets a sinister look on his face that he fails to hide. His ambition leaked from him clearly for both me and my father to see.
"I found my destiny! I found the location of the moon and ocean spirits, Tui and La, in the physical world, and by destroying their physical bodies, we can destroy the moon and ocean itself! Rendering all water benders to naught!"
"HM!!" I said.
"WHAT!" said Azulan.
Our shock can't be contained! This is unprecedented news! If the water benders can't bend anymore, the northern water tribe will be done! Such a difficult thing it is for fire benders to deal with can be destroyed so easily? Nonsense!
"What you say is a matter of great importance. I see now why you worded your letter that way. Now, where are they hiding?" asked Azulan, speaking my next question out loud.
"They are hidden somewhere in the northern water tribe. One of the hardest combat lines right below the earth kingdom." Zhao said bitterly.
"And how do you know this information is reliable?" I said. I might have spoken out of turn due to my father's side glance however he didn't say anything.
"The library was guarded by a massive owl spirit known as-
"Wan Shi Tong…" Azulan finished Zhao's words.
"!" I was shocked again. Does father know about spirits?
"Yes! That was indeed the name of the owl and it was his library! Do you know of this place Fire lord Azulan?" asked Zhao for the both of us.
"...Wan Shi Tong's Library, also called Wan Shi Tong's Spirit Library, is an enormous library located in the Spirit World. But for it to be found in the desert of all places…Zhao!" Azulan spoke.
"Yes!" saluted Zhao.
"You are promoted to Captain and will get a ship to sail the seas. Find men that suit you and gather crew members. The news of what was spoken here does not leave! A matter of top secrecy. Dismissed."
Zhao stands up and bows. He looked up and I gave him a look telling him to meet me somewhere. I have something to discuss with him in private. Hahaha, such an ambitious man is a perfect tool.
--- MC POV ---
'Hm? Oooh, interesting. A lot of good information here. And it even looks like my father is planning something too. There is such a thing as spirits in this world? In my other world, there was spiritual energy that combined with physical energy to make chakra. Perhaps each world has its own form of power. But now what should I do with this information?'

(A/N: Greetings fellow Daoists! First chapter back! It feels good tee hee. It took a while for me to figure out where to lead the story from where I left off but I think with the introduction of this Mr mutton chops, the story can progress. The next few chapters should flesh out Zhao's character.
Again, I reiterate, my update rate is awful and I'm sorry for my loyal fans, however! I'm starting to even think of what to type in the moments I spend away from the keyboard! Haha, perhaps my author spirit is being ignited? Share your thoughts and opinions on the book. I doubt this book will get much traction but It's fun to make and I enjoy reading all of your feedback.
