Bab 48: In the Still of the Night, the Winds Howled

Cyd spent her last night in Brunei having dinner with Caren, her husband Sonny, and Carl. They went to a buffet restaurant in a five-star hotel, one of Cyd's favorite places. Two nights ago, Kevin invited Cyd and some staff to a special farewell dinner. The day before, a staff lunch was arranged for Cyd in the conference room. She felt overwhelmed by all the attention and cried in all of the special events organized to honor her last few days in the country. Cyd felt emotional, and yet, she knew that it was the best decision that she made. She knew that she has slowly been losing her hold on her emotions when it came to her feelings for Ben.

She remembered the scene in Ben's office earlier, the kiss they shared, and turned crimson at the thought of it and her reaction. She wanted to pull him closer to her.

Cyd snapped back to reality and shook her head hard, understanding that this was the real reason why she needed to leave.
