"Alright sir, here you go and have a nice day!" I say with an exaggerated smile but the man is already several feet towards the door and the next person stands before me, an expectant gaze fixed on me.

I breathe in and with cheer start it all over again for the tenth, "Welcome to Sydney's what'll be your order?"

Going through ten more after this, mid noon clocks and it's not my problem anymore. I offer my replacement a brief greeting and wish her luck, noon to night is a tough crowd, she's got it worse because they trust her to perform.
