Bab 111: Chapter 12

Already he spits thin veiled accusations my way, his eyes fix on me all while he chews on his steaks.

I keep away from meeting his eyes or paying his words any sort of attention whatsoever, without Symphony here playing best friend it wouldn't be possible. He takes and adds to my plate at his discretion and I act like I'm mad about having a piece of my steak taken off.

We throw in a little conversation of games as well, excited but also laying the seeds for when we'd excuse ourselves from the table early. Anything to leave the Captain's scrutiny.

Cleo gasps, her fork left to clatter on the plate, "An accident? And so close by? Goodness, what is this city turning into? I hope no one got hurt."

The Captain's eyes fall on me, as if expecting me to confess at the question. They narrow when I don't say a thing and take a bite out of my meal instead, "Yes, one poor man was killed right in the street."

Again Cleo gasps, her hands slapped over her mouth.
