~~~(POV: Durado)~~~
I'm awoken by a splash of water on my face. I regain my bearings and look around to see who's decided to wake me up.
I struggle to move, and that's when I feel electricity run through my body. "No point in struggling, your restraints will make sure you don't move, and we aren't at risk." A voice comes out from a dark corner of what I assume is the room I'm in.
I'm being blinded by the light in my face, so I can't really see who's talking to me. All I know is it's a male. Probably the one that shot me with a stun shot.
This situation is less than desirable. I have no idea what's happened.
None of this was a part of the plan. I never expected Teller-Bravo to be thoroughly beaten. "Sorry for the inhospitality, but you can probably guess why we're so on edge." I take it not many things are known about the obvious attack that happened in orbit, not to mention all the security personnel deaths.
Those Mech suits will cost a fortune, and I don't even want to know how much that fleet was worth. I can surmise that it's just a drop in the bucket for Teller-Bravo.
Suddenly, the light turns off, and a gentler one at the corner of the room is turned. Since I'm not blind, I take a look around.
It's a group, 6 in total. 3 males and 3 females. "You see, I've lost 9 friends today! Friends that I've been doing ops with for 12 years! Then we come to this shit hole backwater world, and everything goes to shit!" The man continues to speak, ranting about his stress and loss.
He's the leader of this group. I can tell by his desperation at the loss of his friends. "None of this pertinent to the situation, but I noticed something." Great, here comes the deal.
I roll my neck and look at the man in the eyes, and I see his fear. "Let me guess..." I stop him from even starting. "You want to make a deal. Probably pertaining to the remaining ship at the landing platforms. Sorry to disappoint you, but that ship ain't mine, and I doubt any of you are smart enough to even open it." While my starship was destroyed, Scott's is still fully intact.
I know that for a fact. I saw it completely unharmed before I fell into the jungles canopy. My main concern at the moment is where Scott is. Unlike me, he wasn't fired upon.
The man is irritated at my obvious cockiness. I'll admit, it's there. However, I can see he's holding back because of the single chance that Scott's starship will take him off-world. "Now you listen here, you cocky son of a bitch! I'm getting the remaining members of my crew and me off this godforsaken world!" He points his blaster at my temple. "And you're going to help me do it, Durado..." I'm not surprised he knows who I am.
I'm probably expected to show up at this point. Teller-Bravo knew I'd be coming, warned their best employees in the process.
A chuckle rises through my throat, and it soon turns into a full-blown laugh. "If you know who I am, then you know that as soon as I'm let go from these restraints, I'll kill all of you." This makes everyone in the room tense. "However, I'm not unwilling to help you get off Heroor. But I'll need you to help me do something first." Having people like this showing me around the ruins and helping me find the information I need is important.
Since I'm separated from Scott, this is my only option. I can see all the people in the room exchange glances.
The leader removes the blaster from my forehead and I see him grit his teeth. He knows that this is going to be the only option for him to live to see another world that the jungly terrain of Heroor. "Well, Durado... Let's say we're interested... What is it you exactly want?" I look at the leader.
A look that tells him that he knows what I want to know. "You're here to find out what Teller-Bravo has done to your daughter, huh?" I squint just a bit. They share looks and I know this is going to be the moment they decide if I live and they die, or we all live.
