It now has the highest player count in the world, and more and more people are no longer human on the inside." Way to make it sound so detestable.
He shows graphs of the changes, and there is a total player population in-game right now of 16 billion.
That's a lot of people, almost the entire population of the earth. "Not only has this caused major concerns, but many religious organizations are forsaking The Aeternus Universe. Calling it a passageway to hell and a way for the devil to control people." I get why the religious community would think that, but only fanatics and zealots would take it that way.
Reasonable religious followers know that isn't true.
Leave it to the news to focus on one single demographic to blow things out of proportion. "Not only that but there are many cases of sibling in family's having illicit relationships that are resulting in pregnancy." I can't help but blush when the reporter mentions that.
It's nice to know that we're not the only ones. "All of these cases are being caused by the Arn Zael race from The Aeternus Universe." It's too late to regret my decision to pick that race. If only I knew at the time the kind of repercussions, my choice would make.
I sigh and slowly rub my belly, knowing that I'm in that group, along with Scott. "In other news, the COO of GBFT Inc. has come up missing. GBFT Inc. has put out a reward for any information and any local authorities." That seems like something only Scott would be interested in.
I turn off the TV, and the mocking silence returns. I stand up and head to my own room. I press the start button on my gaming pod, and it hisses open. I might as well play some myself. I want to check on Scott too. He spends a lot of time in The Aeternus Universe.
I let my body relax, and the headgear slowly lowers onto my head. In an instant, I'm sleeping, and I'm loaded into the game. I look around, and I'm in the same room I logged out in.
I rented a room for a couple of days, I thought our characters stayed in the game when we left, but that isn't right. So there is no need for it.
However, it is nice to have a private place to come and go. I stretch my body a little bit, and I make my way towards the exit. The main place that Scott usually hangs out at is the workshop in the store he showed me.
