It had only taken one month for Takeshi to go through an overwhelming change. His chakra was nearing low jonin level, and most of his physical stats were either on par with elite genins or low chunins.
But perhaps his most impressive growth came from his growth in skills. Although he had put his ninjutsu training on hold, he did learn the passive Kenjutsu skill [Water Flow], which made Biwa completely helpless. It was a B-rank skill after all.
As for his Hidden Mist Kenjutsu Art, it had reached 165 points of proficiency, more than doubling, under the guidance of Elder Okuta. With a swordsman grandmaster who had refined his art to the peak, or his talent in Kenjutsu that was now in the [High] category, his understanding of swordsmanship had gone through a complete metamorphosis.
Because his body was not strong enough to handle the after effects of the Haze clan technique with his massive chakra reserves, Otuka had prioritized making him stronger physically to reduce the gap between his chakra and body stats. To no avail, the more he grew, the more his chakra incrased as Takeshi kept increasing his chakra stats.
However, his Hidden Mist Kenjutsu Art could be considered above expert levels now. Even the instructors would be helpless against him in a duel of pure kenjutsu. This was how much he had absorbed in one month.
Be it Yuki, Biwa, or even instructors, none of them could handle him in the academy. As a result, he had quickly stopped attending and focused on his lessons with Otuka thoroughly.
After one month, as he displayed the 11th forms of the Hidden Mist Kenjutsu Art with utter perfection, Takeshi realized that his master had been observing his training.
Bowing slightly in respect, Takeshi asked: "Dear Master, did you notice some flaws in my swordsmanship?"
This had been a technique that had been very useful, a trick that he had managed to find out allowing him to exploit a bug in the system. Rather than a bug, it was more like enlightenment. He had gotten this idea after seeing that witnessing the skills of strong shinobi could increase the proficiency in his own skills. If they were to give advice about his own skills, then he was bound to get some proficiency points!
But...
To his surprise, Elder Otuka scoffed: "Your swordsmanship is perfect in theory...but it has no scent, no taste"
His cryptic words were not always easy to understand.
Looking at his battle log.
There was no increase in proficiency.
'Damn it...Why do masters never explain things properly...', Takeshi cursed in his mind.
But Elder Otuka's next gesture surprised him greatly: "You are a formidable student, Takeshi. The mizukage entrusted a mission to us"
Takeshi titled his head. There should have been two months still before the graduation exam. Did his presence shift the tides of fate in the world of naruto already? He had not even become a genin officially, yet the mizukage was giving him a mission? It made no sense.
Otuka threw a headband on Takeshi, which he caught expertly.
Otuka continued: "Be glad. You are officially a genin of Kirigakure. Hold this headband with pride, as it represents the hidden village of the lands of water, the Hidden Mist Hidden Village, the strongest force in the continent. No matter what happens in the future, you will always have this with you, as a symbol of your first steps in the shinobi world. Because of this item and what it symbolizes, you will have to cut down enemies and innocents, you will have to fend off fair and unjust attacks. However, you have to wear it proudly, for it would have never fallen in your hands if not for the sacrifices of thousands of shinobi who devoted their life for this symbol"
The Kirigakure headband represented far more than a mere piece of defensive equipment. It had the same value as a flag. Shinobi would kill, sacrifice and surpass themselves for what it represented.
Takeshi smiled.
He had become a true shinobi.
The following words, however, horrified.
