Amber's place.
By the time Amber arrived home, it was already around midnight. After leaving the library, she went to meet her aunt and ended up staying with her a little longer than she had planned.
Tossing her bag on the table, she slumped up on the couch. Gently rubbing the back of her neck which felt very sore, she sighed. She always felt extremely drained and exhausted at the end of the day. Maybe Catheline was right, she really needed a break.
Just then the doorbell rang which forced Amber to drag her exhausted body towards the main door.
Looking through the door peephole, she opened the door.
"Girl, did you just come home?" When Amber nodded her head, Genny frowned, "Why were you out so late?"
"I went to the library and then visited my aunt," she answered before dragging her feet inside.
"Is aunt Silvi, okay?"
"Yeah she is fine." Glancing at the watch, Amber inquired, "It's almost one, why aren't you sleeping?"
"I was completing some work. Then I saw your lights on so I brought some food over." Keeping the container on the table, she added, "I was waiting for you as well."
"Food—" Opening the container, Amber awed at the food for a couple of times before giving Genny a hug. "You have no idea how much I love you Gen, you are the ebay neighbor ever."
Patting her back, she smiled, "Of course, you are lucky to have me."
Grinning at the food, Amber rubbed her hands. "Okay, let me heat my food."
"Well, I am here to give you the food but also to remind you about my boss' first appointment with you."
"You can send him tomorrow afternoon around two. I am going out for lunch with Cath but I should be back by then," Amber answered.
"That is cool, he doesn't have any meeting after twelve anyway."
"Okay, just let me know beforehand in case he wants to reschedule it."
"Alright, I'll take my leave now. Enjoy the food babe," Genny winked at her before walking towards the main door. Stopping midway, she added, "Try coming back early for a few days, with so many things happening around the city I am always worried about you."
"What are you talking about?" Amber inquired.
"You don't know?" When she shook her head, Geny explained, "Two people have been found dead in the streets with a weeks gap between them."
Scrunching her brows, she gasped in shock. "What? When did this happen?"
"The first one happened a week ago and the recent one yesterday. The recent one was a woman—it's literally the hot news, I can't believe you don't know this," Genny sighed.
Thinking for a while, Amber curiously inquired, "By any chance, did this second murder happened in Queensvilla?"
"Yes, how do you know that?"
"Was the body of the woman found near a dumpster?" When Genny nodded her head, Amber pursed her lips. This was exactly what her patient Jack had told her in the morning. Was it just a coincidence or did he really see the murder happen?
"Amber—" Genny called her out. "Are you fine?"
Coming out of her daze, she nodded her head. "Y—Yes, I think I am just tired."
"You should take some rest. Lock the door properly and call me immediately if something happens, okay?"
"Of course I will."
After giving Amber the necessary instructions, Genny left.
Locking the main door properly, Amber tried very hard to connect the dots between the murder of the a woman and what Jack had told her.
She then quickly grabbed her phone from her bag and started reviewing the news and articles related to the mysterious murders that had happened in the city.
