Riuka passed out and her powers awakened. Taking control of her body, they freed her and tore the monster apart.
Her powers had saved her by instinct, like Avatar Aang in Avatar state!
She was reborn!
But Ruika hadn't left the bed and didn't feel any different, so she was yet to notice any changes.
She was now an incredibly powerful being, but she had no clue! Here she was, shaking like a leaf, terrified of shadows in her own room.
____
Though it is still dark, Ruika's mother, Queen Gini comes immediately, full of concern. She pants a little as in her haste she has not stopped to breathe since she got off her bed, alarmed.
She had been told a messenger had arrived from her daughter's quarters.
A messenger, sent from her daughter's quarters in the dead of night?... without reading the message, she knew something serious had happened. Her daughter was in danger!
She immediately got up, threw on a dark green furry cloak and mounted her horse, riding at top speed, only reading the message on the way down here.
The contents of the message were even worse than she imagined. She struck her horse, getting it to run as fast as possible. Her daughter was everything to her.
Arriving at her daughter's quarters, she pulls the reins on the horse, stopping it just in time to prevent it from crashing into the buildings due to excessive speed.
Even before the horse is fully stopped, she jumps off it, hurrying down to her daughter's room. The waiting servants don't even have the chance to greet her and are forced to follow after her, almost running to catch up with her quick pace, responding to her questions and rendering report as they go.
As she steps into the room, she stops in her tracks at the sight of the destruction. Panicked, she looks around for her daughter and spots her: sitting up on the soft bed, in the very centre of the destruction is the little angel.
Legs folded against her chest, shaking arms hugging her knees tight, lips quivering and eyes, peering into a dark corner of the room, the angel recoils into herself in fear.
'Oh... it's bad.'
It takes her just one look to know that this is the worst of Ruika's episodes yet.
The queen takes her hand to her forehead. She can't freak out.
Ignoring the glaring destruction of the room before her, she focuses on her priority; her daughter.
"Leave us." the queen commands, and the servants quickly obey, creating the much-needed privacy.
She gracefully approaches Ruika's soft bed and sits, providing her daughter with a much desired warm hug, taking care to lay her daughter's head onto her soft bosom. She accurately predicts her daughter's needs.
"Ruru, I'm here. Take a deep breath. Calm... calm... calm." She spoke in a soothing voice, adding warmth to the calming embrace.
"Mother!"
Her mother's voice snaps Riuka back to consciousness.
She was finally here!
She felt her mother's arms around her... It wasn't a dream. She was safe! Free of that horrid nightmare.
She didn't realise when the tears came pouring down her cheeks.
_____
"I'm here now. Don't be afraid.... I've got you."
"Calm, calm... now breathe..."
"Deep breath...
Hold...
Release.
Again, deep breath..."
_____
Taking deep breaths following her mother's prompts, Riuka gradually calms down. Her mother's touch and soothing voice always worked wonders at times like these. This was why Riuka had called out for her.
Based on the queen's reaction, you could tell that this isn't the first time she has found herself in such a situation. Riuka's visions weren't always blissful.
Looking down at her daughter's hair, she notices the sea-green streaks and fluorescence.
"Woah... well, this is new. Hah", she chuckles lightly, taking one of the glowing streaks in her hand to inspect it further.
"What?" Riuka lifts her head to look at her mother, concerned.
"Your hair... it's beautiful." The queen praises, taking an affected lock to her daughter's face so she can see it.
"*gasp!*... when did this happen?" Ruika inspects the lock for two seconds before becoming even more stressed. Only now does she notice the changes in her hair.
"Your new markings too... fascinating!", her mother continues.
She rolls a finger over the glossy diamond mark on her daughter's forehead, and then over the new glistening markings on her daughter's hand, admiring the detailing of the beautiful two-thirds crescent pattern.
She turns her daughter's hand over to see that the rest of the crescent pattern is continued into her daughter's palm.
'Incredible!'
Hearing her mother speak of new markings, Ruika averts her eyes from the many glowing locks of hair she has pulled forward into her view, to see new markings on her left hand.
Shocked, she moves, looking about her; stretching to search all over her body for changes.
That's when she observes the improvements on the birthmark on her right shoulder, and the new markings decorating her right foot.
She is beyond confused and overwhelmed by the sudden changes she's experienced overnight.
She doesn't know why her features have suddenly changed, or what these changes signify, and her cluelessness frustrates her all the more.
I mean, she was supposed to know everything, and here she was, staring in shock at a complete mystery.
She heaves an exhausted sigh and rests herself back into her mother's comfortable embrace, trying not to think anymore as her mind is already at breaking point.
...
Sensing her tension, her mother pats her back, stroking her to calm her further, keeping her warm in her embrace all the while.
She could still feel Riuka's occasional quivering.
'She must have been scared out of her mind!', she reasons.
She wouldn't bother her. She would let her rest in her embrace for as long as it took to calm her, and take away all her fears.
They maintain the silence, deep in their own thoughts.
...
"Mother, do you think all my visions will surely come true?"
Riuka breaks the silence, voicing her most recent thoughts.
She knew the answer to this question, but she still asked. She needed someone to tell her that there was a chance, even if a 1% chance that the vision she just had... the vision where her kingdom is attacked and her people die en masse, that vision would not come true.
For once, she wanted her instincts to be fake, and her powers to only be pulling a dark prank on her.
"Well... the Diviner said so, and so far, all that are verifiable have come true..."
Her mother kept talking but all she could hear echoing within her was...
'ALL have come true.'
There was not a chance that the vision would not come true. She already knew this, but her mother's words seemed to put a finality on it.
She shivered.
All, including the death and destruction of her people, would come true!
