Bab 21: Chapter 21

The sterile scent of antiseptic and the faint hum of fluorescent lights greet us as we step out of the hospital elevator.

I cross my arms tightly over my chest, my pace lagging behind Zack's as he moves with purpose through the maze of the corridors.

His back is tense, and I can only imagine what's going through his mind right now.

He wanted to take me home first so he would come here alone, but I was insistent on coming with him. He hasn't said another word since then.

I had envisioned a lot of things that could happen this night, and this wasn't part of it.

"Three zero six," he mutters as we approach one of the doors in the VIP wing. "I think this is it."

I don't respond, heaving a sigh as Zack pushes the door open slowly.

Audrey is lying on the hospital bed, her face pale and eyes closed, the faint beeping of machines the only indication she's still alive.

What the hell happened?
