"Let me see your hand."
Amethyst looked up from her phone when she heard his voice.
"My hand?"
She looked down and that is the only time she noticed that she had hurt her wrist. The blood had almost dried out as well.
"It wasn't that serious though," she commented when Slate sat down opposite her.
"Bacteria could still cause it problems, even though it wasn't that serious, if it weren't treated properly," he commented pulling her hand.
Amethyst could only leave him to do what he wants to do.
"Thanks," he said as he treated her wound.
She stared at him but seeing as he wasn't looking up at all and his ears have turned red somehow, she knew he was feeling embarrassed at the way he acted a while ago.
"Hmmm," was her only reply.
For her, he didn't have to be embarrassed because he was in pain and he was suffering.
He just brought out everything, that's why it was normal.
Hearing her reply and her not saying more was actually the reaction he had wanted.
"How about yours?" after putting the bandage, she asked him.
"When Scarlet saw this a while ago, she called for Gabriel and had him treat it. He was even complaining that he was actually taking care of a man. He would gladly do it if it was a woman," he sighed and even shook his head while putting aside the things he used.
"I think he was trying to lighten the mood in there especially with both your eyes," she commented and he couldn't help but to glare at her.
She laughed, "What did I do? I was just giving my comment."
He rolled his eyes, "Never thought you could be like this."
"I have so many sides you two are unaware of," she replied.
"Says the one who loves staying inside her place and barely interacts with anyone," he rebuked.
"Like sister, like brother. You guys almost have the same words," she just shook her head.
"Anyway, have you sorted everything out?" she asked again after looking at her wound that he had treated.
"Yes, we talked about everything," he replied.
She suddenly thought of something and raised both arms on her side while smiling.
He frowned looking at her sudden gesture.
"You can cry again if you want," she grinned.
She was feeling light right now that she actually had the audacity to tease him.
He frowned before extending his hand and pushing her forehead with his fore finger.
"Enough with that will you?" he shook his head, picked up the medical kit and stood up.
"Hey, don't leave me here," she called as she followed.
The moment they stepped out of the cafeteria and into the corridor.
"Amethyst!!"
Her eyes widened when someone hugged her right there and then.
Slate was shock as well, a man suddenly rushed to them and suddenly hugged her.
He looked at her and seeing as she wasn't that uncomfortable, he gestured to her that he would be going ahead.
His gesture snapped her out of her shock and before he could step away, she rushed to hold on to his sleeve before slowly shaking her head.
When he looked at her, her face had changed from pure shock to terror. And her eyes are begging him not to leave her in there.
"Excuse me," he stepped forward and pulled the man away from her before stepping in between them.
"I think you do know that you can't be too loud in the hospital," he then said.
The man was a bit shorter than him and well, not as handsome as him. But he has his assets.
"Oh, I apologize. I was just too shock to see her that I rushed up the moment I laid my eyes on her," the man replied trying to step towards Amethyst.
But Slate stepped towards his path blocking him from Amethyst.
The man frowned, "Who are you? Why are you blocking my path?"
"How cliché," it wasn't Slate who spoke up, but instead it was Amethyst.
After seeing that Slate was there, she couldn't help but to have the courage. The terror was still there but it was all because of the memories.
The man looked at her while Slate remained looking at the man.
"You dare say such shameless words when you have no right to do so, Adam," she continued.
"A- Amethyst, why are you being so distant?" Adam asked.
But he felt as if he was facing someone else and not the person from the past.
"Let's just say, we have grown apart. Now, if we are done here. Please excuse us, we still have a place to go to," she stepped on the other side before pulling Slate away.
Adam was at a loss as he watched them walk away.
*****
Turning on the corner, Amethyst let go of his hand and leaned on the wall.
Slate could see how disturb she had become after meeting that man.
"Follow me," he said as he walked ahead.
She looked at his back before she started following him.
They can't go back to where Scarlet is because her state might end up worrying her.
And so, he brought her to his office.
"Sit down," he said before going towards the water dispenser and taking a cup to fill up with water.
He handed it to her, not to his surprise, she drank it in one go.
She sighed heavily after drinking the water.
"Who was that?" he asked sitting on the table.
She smiled with uncertainty before once again sighing, "My… ex."
His brow raised upon hearing her reply.
"Never thought you were actually once in a relationship," he commented.
"I know, I don't look like someone who would enter a relationship. And I lived my life like one. The way I told you my stories implies how closed off I was," she put the cup on the table before replying with a bit of a frown.
For the second time, he pushed her forehead using his finger.
"I didn't mean anything bad about it. Simply because I thought of it that way," he then said.
"Anyway, I thank you for getting my signal a while ago," she sighed in relief just remembering it.
"You only looked shock at first that I thought he was really someone you knew. But then…"
He extended his hand and placed the back of it on her cheek, "You became pale and the look of your face was that of terror, there's no way I wouldn't get your signal when you are looking like that."
She pursed her lips at his sudden touch before clearing her throat, "It wasn't really his face that I was terrified to. It was the memories that accompanied that face."
"Was the break up… severe?"
She shook her head, "It was a cliché one. You know just like the novels where the lover of one was snatched away by her sister. That was what simply happened to us."
He remained looking at her without saying anything and she could only take a deep breath seeing his look.
"Do you really want to hear it?" she asked.
"I can be your counselor," he replied with a shrug.
She could only chuckle while shaking her head. It was quite true because he was the one who listened to everything she had to say.
He didn't give much of comments but he did listen attentively.
"Fine, but as I have said. It is a cliché one."
