As the messages disappeared, the energy barrier that once guarded the castle slowly faded away.
Batu collapsed onto the floor as intense pain overwhelmed his entire body. He felt as if his whole body was being cooked from the inside out.
"Batu!" Louise cried out in alarm. She ran towards him, dropped down to her knees and lifted his head onto her lap.
"I'll... I'll be alright, Louise," the pain made it hard for him to speak.
Huh, wait a minute. Batu's mind reeled with sudden shock. Was this the famous lap pillow seen in animes?! This softness... this heavenly feeling. Batu was in pure bliss as he soaked in the pleasures of Louise's thighs.
"You don't look alright, you big idiot," she gently wiped the blood from his battered face, being careful not to hurt him.
"Seriously... I'm perfectly- Agh!" another surge of pain suddenly coursed through his body.
"Just hold still!" Louise ordered, getting the last bit of blood off from his face. "Hah... at this rate, I don't think I'll ever get to go back home from the way you're mindlessly throwing yourself at danger."
"Hehe, it won't happen again, I swear," Batu nervously chuckled; honestly, was he the master here or her? At the same time, his heart warmed seeing Louise take care of his wounds.
"Here, drink this."
Batu looked up to see Lyra with a [Lesser Health Potion]. Her frosty blue eyes were void of emotion, yet it made her beautiful in her own way.
"You sure?" Batu asked. "The potions are pretty important, ya know."
"It's my way of showing gratitude for saving my life."
Batu glanced at the potion for a moment. He should be thanking her instead. Without her, he would have never made it this far.
With a small smile, he took it from her and chugged it all down with a satisfied sigh. Although many of his wounds were healed, he still felt the pain from the skill's drawback, albeit, it wasn't as intense as before.
"You are one crazy sunovabitch, y'know that?" Chin guffawed. "I nearly thought ya woulda died back there!"
"How could ya have such low faith in me?" Batu joked back.
"Oh, please. Against that giant knight, I had money on ya losing."
"Whatever," Batu rolled his eyes. With the last bit of strength Batu could muster, he slowly got up from the ground. He nearly fell back down, but he was quickly caught by Louise.
"Since my useless master can barely walk, I suppose that I can at least help this much," Louise roped Batu's arm over her shoulders and held him up by his waist.
"My, my. That was certainly quite the performance you put on there, Batu," Jack slowly clapped. "I was not expecting you to be quite skilled."
"And where were YOU when shit went down, Jack?" Chin angrily asked.
"There was no need to help," Jack simply answered. "You lot certainly had it all under control."
"Fighting the boss would've been much easier if we had an extra hand!"
"What do you suppose I would do? I'd rather not risk my fragile life this early on."
Batu sighed as Jack and Chin argued. Honestly, he didn't care if Jack helped or not; there were plenty of players who were scared to help. Batu couldn't blame him for it; he would have done the same thing if he didn't have his unique class.
"Guys, just chill out," Batu tried to mediate the situation. "We still have the main event to take care of."
"I agree, there wasn't a need for a childish argument, but I guess the little ones always have the shortest tempers," Jack shrugged his shoulders.
"YOU!" Chin popped a vein. The last thing he needed to hear was an insult about his height.
They quickly erupted into another argument again.
"Let's just leave these two idiots to themselves," Louise pulled him away. However, Batu made sure he collected all of his delicious loot from Gaul before he went with her.
Soon, all of the players made their way to the castle where two enormous steel gates slowly opened up. Everyone instantly had their guards up as they entered inside.
It was cold, dark and decrepit. Cracks were present on the walls, and dust littered all over the floor, decorations and antiques. There wasn't even a soul in sight as if the castle had been completely abandoned.
Louise frowned as she saw the sad state of the castle. As an aristocrat, she understood the important of appearance and prestige among nobility. To see such an iconic symbol of royalty like this made her angry.
"Oi, we're in the castle, right? How come the main mission still ain't done yet?" Chin asked.
"My guess, there's gotta be something around here that we need to do," Batu answered.
As they made their way down the dark hall, a tall, dull red door stood before them. No one knew what awaited them on the other side. It could be an army of soldiers for all they know.
The door creaked loudly in the silent darkness as Lyra pushed it open. They soon arrived at the throne room where it was lit by wall torches.
The throne room was desolate and riddled with dust and cobwebs. At the end of the room was a throne, old and worn. And there sat a frail lord with a dagger on his lap. He was the King of Kinsisle.
His skin was shriveled and grey, and his eyes were dull, milky white. Without his crown, he would look like a helpless old man.
"Outsiders... I see my last knight hast fallen; a stubborn one, he is," the frail king spoke with pain in his old voice. "I see ye not, but I can feel the mana around ye. Thou art must be brought to my kingdom from the graces of God to free me."
Everyone was still vigilant around him. They were ready in case he'd ever attack.
"Fear not; I am but an old king; frail and weak," he raised an arm out to calm them. "My kingdom is all but ruined; my people gone, and my soldiers dead. What use is a king in a broken kingdom?"
Everyone glanced each other for a moment before they lowered their guard towards the king.
"What does Your Majesty want us to do?" Louise suddenly spoke up. She felt pity for the king.
"My kingdom is apart of me; and I am apart of it. As long as the kingdom stands, so will I. Through centuries, I have reigned; I've seen wars and calamities. I watched my closest ones die terrible deaths.
But now I grow tired of it all.
I've allowed the demons to breach this empty kingdom of mine in hopes to end my wicked curse; and return me to the Eternal.
However, it seems thou, brought by the graces of God, has reached me first. I only ask that thou free me from my suffering."
"As... as you wish, Your Majesty," Louise bowed her head, biting down on her lips.
"So, wait, he wants to die?" Batu asked.
"To relieve his Majesty from his suffering," Louise said in a more respectful way. She wanted to smack her useless master across the head for being so disrespectful.
"I don't know about this, Louise," Batu didn't exactly feel comfortable ending another person's life. It was almost a sickening feeling in his stomach.
"I-I think it's for the best," she quietly said.
Jack suddenly budged in the way and walked up to the frail king, "Well, if you don't have the heart to do it, I will be more than welcome to do it for you."
Jack grabbed the dagger from the king's lap and aimed it for his heart. The frail king simply closed his eyes and waited for death.
Then with a single thrust, Jack plunged the sword deep into the king's chest.
"I thank thee for freeing me," the king spoke his finals words before he fell into an eternal slumber.
