Bab 12: Were you jealous?
As soon as Aiden got the glimpse of Anna, his entire body froze again. He is standing in his bedroom's balcony and he happened to see them being escorted inside by the butler.
He was shocked and stunned the last morning so he didn't notice that her demeanor and aura had changed. She is looking spectacular and has really become more beautiful than before. She is looking more mature and feminine.
He simply couldn't take his eyes off her.
She was innocent, demure and more of a cute nerd when they first met. They were polar opposites and it was not love at first sight for either of them.
Their bond had slowly developed and once they understood each other, it didn't take much time for them to realize their feelings.
And, he still couldn't understand how they broke up. Their bond was not weak!
But at the same time the circumstances forced them to break up.
"Who could this lady be?" Felix whispered as he walked into the balcony.
"She looks so beautiful that I couldn't take my eyes off her," he added.
"I will pursue her until she falls for me." Felix said, his voice filled with determination.
When Aiden heard Felix, he felt his blood boiling up. It's not his mistake that he still loves Anna and he is over possessive of her.
"If you are in such dire need to find a woman, I could help you to set up some blind dates with those spoiled heiresses our grandmother talks about. What do you say?" Aiden asked, his voice carrying a tinge of warning.
Felix felt a shiver run down his spine.
Why does his brother sound jealous??
This is not the first time Felix spoke about women in front of his brother. He is a playboy and his brother knows that.
"How about Miss Danvers? She is quite a catch too" Aiden asked, referring to Ria.
"No..no..don't. I am still too young to date a woman. I suddenly realized that this is time to focus on my career" Felix hastily answered.
"You better keep that in your mind and not flirt." Aiden added.
"We…. were you jealous?" Felix carefully asked. His brother has been acting very weird since yesterday.
"Have you left your mind in the refrigerator? Why would I be jealous?" Aiden frowned.
"I am just reminding you to show respect towards women, got it" he swiftly lied.
Even he is surprised that his feelings for Anna are still the same no matter how many years have passed by. He still couldn't tolerate it when other men looked at her.
Although his feelings are no more as simple as before and are complex and bitter sweet, he is still protective of her.
Meanwhile, Anna and others were escorted inside. However, her heart and eyes are busy searching for Aiden..
"Hi, Ashley" Kyle greeted the girl who is the same age as him. She was about to go upstairs, probably to avoid him; however, they met at the stairs while being escorted.
"Hey," Ashley hastily greeted and then hurried back to her room.
"She is acting weird nowadays" he thought inside, however, his thoughts got interrupted when he entered the living room and found grandfather Fletcher waiting for him.
"Sorry for troubling you at this late hour, Mr. Fletcher," Kyle apologized.
"Not an issue" grandfather Fletcher indifferently said, but his eyes are focused on the new girl whom he didn't see till today.
"Please take a seat" he told them, not averting his eyes from Anna.
He felt like he saw her somewhere.
She looked familiar somehow. .
Kyle noticed grandfather's gaze and then realized that he didn't introduce Anna to everyone.
"Sorry for bringing my friend unannounced. She is Anna, my close friend" Ria introduced before Kyle could introduce his sister .
"I decided to have my sister Anna as my personal secretary and that is why I brought her here," Kyle added. He discussed this with Anna and she agreed after a lot of persuasion.
"Personal secretary?" grandfather Fletcher asked, raising his eyebrow. Secretaries must be effective and highly experienced to assist the CEO to run a company. It's not an easy task that could be given to someone just like this.
"Yes," Kyle firmly answered.
"Young man, don't tell me that you are planning to take over the CEO position" grandfather Fletcher laughed.
"Why can't he?" Ria asked. She didn't like how this old man was talking to Kyle who just lost his grandparents.
"I don't think he deserves it," the old man simply answered.
"Sir, how could you come to a decision even before he could prove himself?" Anna calmly asked. She looked collected and cool, carrying respect and patience along with it.
She didn't look intimidated by this man's imposing and suppressing aura.
"Yes sir, give my brother a chance." Ria added, trying her best to stand up for Kyle. .
"He can act as an interim CEO for six months and if you still feel like he doesn't deserve the position, he will step down and remain as a shareholder" Anna proposed her idea.
"Miss, I didn't know that you had the authority to intervene in Danvers' Corps" grandfather Fletcher remarked while reminding her that she is just an outsider.
Bab 13: Walking down the memory lane
"She might not have any right to intervene, Mr. Fletcher. But she is like a sister to me. My grandparents have always treated her like their own" Kyle intervened.
"Yes, Mr. Fletcher. Anna is like a sister to us and she is family" Ria supported Kyle. If not because of Anna's reluctance to disclose her identity, she would have made this old man understand how important Kyra is.
Before grandfather Fletcher could speak anytime, grandmother Fletcher came inside with a kind smile.
"Dinner is ready" she said, ushering them inside kindly
"I will be there, dear. Let me fetch our precious granddaughter from her room… she seems to be in a bad mood off" grandfather Fletcher said to his wife while he narrowed his eyes at Kyle for a brief second.
"Yes, she seems downcasted today," grandmother Fletcher wondered.
"It's nice having you three here.. come on, join us for dinner" she added, while she affectionately looked at Kyle, Anna and Ria.
"I will be there in a minute." Grandfather Fletcher told them and then headed upstairs.
Kyle and Ria nodded their heads and headed to the dining hall along with Anna, where Aiden and Felix were already seated.
Aiden was a little nervous but he didn't show it in his face. He simply pretended not to notice his ex, Anna. However, his heart was beating erratically while he waited for Anna to arrive.
"Brother Aiden, what happened to you?" Kyle asked when he looked at Aiden's injuries.
"It's an accident. Nothing serious" Aiden answered.
"I hope for your fast recovery," Kyle said.
"We all do, Mr. Fletcher," Ria added.
"Thank you," Aiden answered. A smile appeared on his lips when he saw the look on Anna's face.
She looked a bit worried and concerned. Although she didn't show it, he is a master in reading her eyes.
It is obvious that she still cared for him in the same way he does and it totally elated Aiden..
And, when he saw her taking a seat opposite to him, he heart skipped a beat. The memories from the past resurfaced, warming and suffocating his heart at the same time.
They used to cook together while teasing each other. The dinner used to be filled with laughter and warmth while feeding each other. Their weekend getaways, wonderful dates and thrilling adventures… Those years were the happiest moments in his life.
But never did he think that Anna would come to his home after they broke up.
Weirdly, it felt good to see her sitting at the same dining table and having food. Those happy moments were too precious for him to be overpowered by the breakup and bitter memories that followed after.
Meanwhile, Anna's cheeks were literally blushing. She couldn't help but remember the naughty things they used to do on their dining table when they were living together. Her legs went jelly when she remembered the memories of Aiden teasing her legs with his toes under the table, whenever they used to be in public.
He used to like teasing her like that…. and, she was no less. Those were thrilling and beautiful memories to cherish.
"Anna, why is your face red? Are you feeling ill?" Grandmother Fletcher asked as she noticed the changes in Anna's face.
Although she doesn't know Anna much and has met her just today, she somehow felt familiar, like a family member.
"Uhm.. it's nothing, Mrs. Fletcher." Anna lied, covering her embarrassment.
Only if the poor old woman could read her thoughts, she would already be suffering nosebleeds. Anna's brain is literally filled with all those R18 moment's she had with her ex boyfriend.
"You might be feeling hot. But the air conditioner is in full swing already!" Ria noted, clueless of what her friend is going through.
Anna could only narrow her eyes at Ria and sigh, before pinching her hand under the table, signaling her to keep quiet.
Meanwhile, Aiden couldn't help his smile.
He knows exactly what is going on in Anna's mind. He couldn't stop his brain from walking down the same memory lane. Memories he had with his first love are so precious that he never felt the same towards any other women.
"Brother, why are you smiling?" Felix asked clueless just like Ria. He is surprised that his brother could actually smile like this.
Even grandmother Fletcher was surprised.
It's been years since her grandson has smiled like this .
"Me? I didn't smile! I was thinking of something else" Ryan lied.
He was actually thinking of all those moments he used to tease her to make her feel jittery and blushy. She was so cute and demure at that time that he couldn't help but want to tease her more and more.
Those days were indeed filled with joy and boundless love.
Meanwhile, Anna could only pout because she knows the reason behind his smile. She has seen that doting smile on his lips many times and it really used to lighten her mood just like how it started doing now.
His impact on her is still the same, no matter how many years have passed.
For a brief moment, both have forgotten that they broke up. Their happy moments have made them travel years back, filling their hearts with beautiful memories they made.
Their eyes, involuntarily, met with each other and nothing else mattered but before anybody could notice it, they averted their eyes, remembering that it's all in the past and they don't have anything to do with each other anymore.
