Bab 16: ch 16
After resting to replenish their energy, Noah and Sam continued once more. During the fights Noah tried to replicate what Sam did with causing an explosion with his fist, but the difficulty of doing this was way too high for him.
"It took me a year to master the explosion, so don't be discouraged," Sam says after finishing off his mantis. "I can even teach you how to do it, so it would probably take you around half a year to master. Well, that is after you fully understand the capabilities of the fire ability and spend most of your time focused on just mastering fire."
"Nah, in the future I will have more abilities. Seeing as how my physical enhancing abilities combined to make Phy up, then they will definitely be more abilities that merge together. Phy up capabilities are different from the abilities that merged with it, so I basically had to get use to a different abilities while only using the past abilities as a reference point." Noah then starts to sit on the floor after beheading two mantises.
All abilities are different no matter how close they are. The closes comparison to this would be two game controllers from different companies. They both can do the same thing when playing games, but the buttons look and sometime are different.
"I guess you don't really have to focus on improving one abilities, but instead on how to merge the abilities together to get something powerful."
"Yep, it seems like combining the elements in certain ways can improve its power more than just using one. I will probably get element mastery if I get earth and lightning. Using fire with this ability will be different than it is now, so training them in depth is not time efficient." After saying that Noah got up and stretched before grabbing and eating a granola bar from the pouch on his hip.
"There is none here so let just meet up with the other hunters and kill the boss."
After searching for a while, Noah and Sam met up with the hunters. They caught up on how much progress each other has made on this portal.

Looking down from the vantage point he was at, Noah peeked at the king beast sleeping below. It was shaped like a centaur with the horse part being replaced with tiger and the human part being replaced with mantis.
"We will surprise it with our mage's lightning attack. After that the I will rush forward and stun it with my lightning. The rest of our attackers will pelt them while our support cast bog when someone is about to be attacked. Remember, the bog ability can only slow an E ranked king beast for 1 second so hurry up and move out the way."
After the tank of the group explained the plan, everyone got into position. Then he signaled for the mage to attack.
Soon lightning left the mage's fingertip and struck the king beast right in the face. The king beast immediately bolted up and gave a loud roar. The beast then spotted the hunters and rushed at them. Before it could attack the mage, the tank hit it with a shield covered in electricity.
'Someone who has a lightning ability taking the role of a tanks, well that's not something you see every day.'
The electricity briefly paralyzed the beast giving time for the tank to back up a bit so that they are not hit by the flurry of attacks aiming at the beast. After the barrage the team coordinated attacks so that Sam and Noah, who is only using fire, do not get hit by their attacks.
Noah and Sam aimed for each of the mantis claws to try to debilitate it. Sam easily removed it by hitting it with an explosive fist. Noah smoothly cut through it with his fox sword covered in fire with his wind ability secretly helping. That combined with Phy up easily cut through the claw like butter. If Sam showed skill, then Noah showed power in how they cut the blades off. Right when Sam landed, a swipe from the tiger part of the beast aimed for him. When the swipe was close to him it quickly slowed down. It was just slow enough for Sam to dodge out the way. Taking this opportunity, Noah quickly enchanted his sword and body with 'force', he then activated his Int up on top of his Phy up. changing his grip on the fox sword, Noah took a stance to maximize the power of the sword he was about to throw. He then winded up before throwing it. The sword went right through the beast's head giving the beast one last twitch before it fell over.
Noah took a breath to push back the coming migraine as he wipes the sweat and collapse on the ground as a result of stamina lost to use Phy up and overexert his muscles.
Everyone looked at the tired Noah, the fact that he could take out the beast was surprising. This only came to be as the beast couldn't react fast enough because of their support's bog ability. What really surprised everyone was the fact that Noah was able to take that brief pause to send a projectile fast enough to hit the beast in the one second that the beast was affected by bog.
