Bab 6: Ch 6 - Scheme?
After managing to begin my journey as a mage and learning the ability to use four different elements I found myself exhausted.
Luckily I spent most of the day experimenting and a nurse came in soon thereafter.
Once I finished eating I figured that I had done enough for the day and came to the conclusion that I should sleep for the remainder of it.
'After all, I am barely a couple of days old. Being in the body of a newborn I don't want to over-exert myself and cause harm,' and so I fell asleep and got a good night's rest.
When I woke up I realized that it was still dark out. Yet I was feeling rejuvenated and since I didn't see anyone around, I decided that it was as good as time as any to continue my practice of magic.
I figured that whatever Layla did to me when she surrounded me in the water magic I should use to the most of its potential. 'I still don't know exactly what it is that she did but I happen to feel a stronger connection to water magic,' I said unable to explain it.
'I don't know if it's a temporary or permanent effect but nonetheless, I want to make the most of it and place my whole-hearted focus into improving.'
'The connection towards water is not nearly as strong as I feel for wind magic. I believe that I will always have a higher affinity with wind magic but I don't know how long the buff will last with my water magic. So in honor of Layla, I will only focus on water magic for the time being.'
'Besides whatever advancements I make with my affinity towards water I feel I'll be able to catch up in half the time with wind.'
'Then once I feel like I've gotten to a good enough spot with my comprehension of water magic I'll move on to the other two elements that will take longer to master.'
Thus that is what I did for the next couple of hours as the sun began to rise.
'My water droplet is coming together nicely I am still nowhere near being able to form a complete and stable droplet. However, I managed to advance far enough that when I keep the water close to my breath, it will take a couple of seconds before it pops. Which is an improvement that I can be proud of,' I said to myself smiling.
*Step* *Step* *Step*
'Is it already morning? It still looks to be dark out. Well if I get some more food that's all that matters to me,' I say to myself hearing the sounds of a person walking up to my room.
'Oh no it's the killer nurse lady don't say she's back for round two? I've only just gotten so far with my magic yet you've had your whole life. This is unfair!' I think to myself as she comes near.
'I can't let this crazy lady take me down without a fight! But what can I do? My magic is far too weak. Plus if she sees that I can do magic she might turn me into an experiment instead of straight out killing me.'
'I got it! The perfect plan,' I say to myself as I prepare to act.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" I cry out.
*BANG* *SMASH*
Four nurses came barging in my room.
"What happened?" Asked a nurse named Mia.
While she was trying to assess the situation the other three nurses went over to surround me. They wanted to see for themselves what had caused the silent baby to scream out.
'I am a genius! Just try to kill me now lady all the other nurses will protect me,' I tell myself proud of my quick thinking.
"Nothing! I was just walking up to him to pick him up so that we can get him to the carriage," Maria said with a defensive tone.
"I've been feeding him every day and he always allows me to walk up to him you didn't do anything did you?" Mia asked with an accusatory voice.
"Even though the lord is disowning him and wants nothing to do with baby Noah. I'm sure that he wouldn't be happy to learn that his dead wife's baby was harmed in his own household," Mia said with disgust showing on her face.
While Mia was criticizing Maria the other nurses picked me to check for injuries.
Maria started to sweat after that last statement from Mia. Although she was his personal maid she wouldn't dare to offend Christopher.
When Maria saw that all the other nurses were holding me and seeming to not find any injuries began to walk over to me and say,
"See he is perfectly healthy I wouldn't dare to lay a finger on...
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA," I cried out even louder.
'Ha let's see you deal with this you bitch!' I said inwards yet still crying outwardly.
When Mia saw that I began to cry when Maria came close she immediately thought the worst. Since there was no physical damage she thought Maria might have mentally scarred the innocent baby.
In order to first calm down Noah, she rushed over to me and took me from the other nurse's hands, and held me gently yet firm in her embrace.
Once I saw that the nurse who always feeds me was protecting me I instantly shut my mouth and stopped wailing.
"Then how do you explain this? He is terrified of you! I should have known something was wrong when he won't cry at all and then the moment you enter his room he cries out for help," Mia says while caressing me trying to let me know that she won't let Maria harm me anymore.
"I- I didn't do..." Maria tried to explain before being cut off by Mia.
"Enough! I'll be the one to take him to the carriage and will ride with him. I will also make sure the lord hears a full report about today's events. Don't you dare try to cover anything up the other three nurses will serve as witnesses," Mia says placing the final nail in the coffin for Maria.
Before Maria could even try to respond, Mia had already left the room while carrying me.
'Although I have no idea what they are saying I believe that my plan went exactly as planned if not better. I got that psychotic nurse away from me and now I finally get to go on my first adventure in this new world! I wonder where the nurse that feeds me is taking me? Will it be a different more secure room or will I get to go outside and see what this world is really like?' I ask myself ready for whatever could happen.
Yet nothing I could do could have prepared me for what I saw...
Once the nurse left the room she went down two flights of stairs and out a door. I then got my first glimpse of what this new world that I was reincarnated into looks like.
'It's... it's... so old? What is this world doing with technology?' I complain. 'The roads are stone and dirt while the houses are made poorly with simple resources. Even now I see a carriage with horses pulling it.'
'This world has magic for fucks sake yet the world I originated from was centuries more developed than this poor excuse of a city,' I say disappointed.
'I mean they can make resources fly. FLY! Where are the grand buildings mages can make and why haven't they built flying cars?' This is going to be hell itself to adapt to. I'm already getting a headache from what I'll have to deal with in the future.
This whole time I've been looking around and complaining to myself the nurse had been walking closer to the carriages.
When I finally looked to where we were walking I said, 'damn there's so many are we moving? Now that I think about it there wasn't any furniture in the house. Is Christopher buying a new place for us to live? This is great! We can get out of this trash neighborhood and move to those fancy houses that must be in some other place in this world. Well done Christopher although I don't give two shits about you I will gladly accept your spending of money!' I think to myself completely unaware of what was really going to happen to me.
"You are quite the curious one aren't you?" Mia said with a baby voice.
"We will be riding in this carriage here and will be following the lord for a couple of days before breaking off to head to the village where you will grow up," Mia said with a sad smile.
'Lady who feeds me I have no idea what you are saying but it looks like we get to ride in this carriage.'
'It doesn't seem very fancy and it can probably hold at most three people. I hope that this won't be a long ride I don't know if I will have many chances to practice my magic with her nearby.' I say worried.
Then we set out and I start my first adventure in this new world at just a couple of days old.
