Bab 56: Sir Hammer
How do I tell the dwarf that I want to give up? We have been going on in circles for a while. He is patiently explaining a lot of things. I am seriously listening. I am making an effort to do it.
But I inevitably fail lamentably. That's when he starts cursing. Cursing so much he would do well as an actor in you know what kind of films. Yep, I would watch that for sure.
He is expressive too. Brows furrowed. Mouth wide opened. One invective after the other. Normally I'd enjoy it but after a few times, I'm just hoping I can somehow succeed.
Like how hard can forging one puny sword be? Hell fucking hard apparently. After failing to smelt I fail to hammer. Sometimes I drop the ingot I am holding with tongs. Sometimes I miss a swing. Once, I yeet the tool in the lava by mistake.
To make it worse even when I do manage to hit it, it still fails. There is a certain force one needs to use. That is really hard to gauge. There is a rhythm to maintain. That has never been my forte. At all.
There is also a way to do the forging. This is to enhance how sturdy the end result will be. Apparently this change depending on what you want to forge.
The dwarf talks about making sure the grain is all oriented in the same direction. I'm here wondering what he is even referring to. I don't have the magical vision to see that. It totally all looks flat to me.
Turns out that I should be feeling it. This is retardedly hard. Also, bullshit if you ask me. After every failure, he gets a bit mad. Not the violent type. Angrier at how no matter how he tries to explain I'm not getting it.
It kinda is similar to a driving instructor that would tell you to simply feel the vehicle. Would be a fast way to crash for sure haha. There are only a few things that one can't see that I believe in this life of mine. An example would be the heart of the cards.
Well, this dwarf believes in the heart of the forge. Or something similar I don't know. It does make understanding him hard. Also the longer I stay here the more uncomfortable I get. It is hot as hell here!
Good thing I have a nearby pool when it gets unbearable. Oh yeah, about that. This is apparently some kind of condensed pure water droplet that was placed in there. Some kind of magical material that produces water infinitely. The only downside is it takes time to generate it.
It does keep this pond existing, however. Whenever I look at the sea of lava, I can't help but wish I had 2 buckets. Step one you generate infinite water with the 4 blocks trick. Then you use it to turn it all into obsidian. Then you can walk on it as if it was thick ice. Then again, wouldn't it all fall to the bottom due to gravity?
Probably to be honest. You definitely can't apply game logic to real life. I wished, however. It would make this so easy. In most games, the smelting process is all about putting ores and combustible and waiting. Crafting the equipment itself is done in a jiffy too. You simply use get the material and craft it at some kind of crafting station.
Well, it can't be helped. At some point, the dwarf leaves me alone. Saying something about how he has some stuff to do. This leaves only me with a ton of raw materials, a few tools, and a furnace.
*Sigh* I guess I gotta do this the old way.
Lots of effort and …. I still can't help myself but imagine how well it would go if I had a magical system to take care of it all. Eh, one can wish. There is no way …wait…fucking wait! Oh my god!
I'm a goddamn genius! I mean I'm also handsome among other things, but I just got the best idea ever. My whole issue is that my affinity to smithing is pretty much 0. I need help. The dwarf gave me many tips but none I actually understand.
I just need to get myself a helper. One that will be able to do all that. I pick up a hammer. I wish it was able to give me advice. I really wish it could learn about forging and somehow become more and more proficient. An expert that would know all about the subject.
Yep, this is the way to go for sure. Just need to visualize this properly. Then I need to send mana to it. I feel myself being drained. But I definitely succeeded! This is how you cheat in style! Hell yeah!
[Yo, can you hear me?]
"This one is the most proficient hammer blacksmith! You shall call me Sir Hammer!"
[Chill dude, I literally made you.]
"You brat you think you can lay your filthy hands on me?"

"No! You can't touch this hammer!"
[Why?]
"My perfect and angular body is a work of art! It shouldn't be sullied by the likes of…"
[Oh? How about I melt you. Wouldn't you look good as Sir Melted?]
"You wouldn't dare! Even if I just awakened I know you don't have any other hammer! Without my help you are…"
[Yeah, I already gave up. Enchanting you was my last try. I don't mind giving up you know.]
"No way!"
[If you don't cooperate I'll turn you into a ball you know.]
"No! Not my angles! This is barbaric!"
[So what? There is no such thing as a hammer protection agency.]
"T-that…this is so unfair!"
[So what? So, what do you say? Are we doing this partner?]
"T-that, alright! But I have a few ground rules!"
[Go ahead.]
"Well you see actually I have a list of demands."
Why am I starting to feel like creating that new helper might not actually work?
*Sigh* Guess we'll see...
