Ability Index (Darey)
ULTRALUMINOUS VISION: A Special Ability that allows Darey to see clearly in any situation, whether it's too dark, or too bright. It also enhances his vision, allowing him to see better than any normal person. He has used this countless times in dark areas.
YEAR: 2161
LOCATION: Beginner Region, Secondary Academic Grounds, Orion Inner Zone.
The bully froze up as he saw Darey's countenance. He could not shake the feeling that should he move any closer, or attempt to hit Darey, he'd be seriously burned. However, looking around him, his goons were cheering him on, the school was watching. This was a chance to show even more dominance, and climb up the ranks. After ruminating on these thoughts for a brief moment, he decided to...
"Alright boys... That's enough." A voice came from behind them, a short distance away from the two boys.
The crowd parted ways, revealing the man responsible for halting the action. Darey recognized him... This was his Supervisor! What was he doing in a place like this? Darey couldn't shake off the feeling he had concerning the man. It might turn out the man could be a threat to his plans after all. If that would be the case, then he would have to...
"No, It's too early for that." Darey chided himself.
It wasn't time to start causing unnecessary scenes. He also chided himself for him losing his grip for a while. It had been a while since he had talked to humans who were defiant to him. People like the Orange colored boy were the ones who go on his nerves the most. Weak people preying on weaker ones. Instead of striving for more strength and greater heights, they hold onto the little power they possess and try to subdue weaker beings.
"Pathetic!" He reasoned to himself. "True strength can never be achieved through that." He concluded, while reverting his countenance to a calm and expressionless one.
"Anyone care to tell me what's going on here?" The man spoke with authority, facing the leader of the fold.
"W-Well, we saw this lil' punk and decided to teach him a lesson... Wait, no... I mean, i just wanted more recognition and to show off a bit, no... What am I saying?" The flustered bully recoiled, taken aback by his plain honesty.
Larry Oswald smiled as he looked at the bully, whose face was already filed with terror mixed with confusion.
"Don't you have anything better to do? Scram!" He fumed, causing the delinquents to immediately leave the area, and the crowd dissipated.
The students watching the showdown left and went about their businesses, leaving Darey alone with the man. Larry looked away from the bully and his goons, who grumbled as they walked away and were already at a distance, and turned to Darey.
"Are you alright kid?" Larry said, smiling warmly.
Darey was hesitant to answer him, however, since he didn't want to arouse any suspicion, and create a bigger scene, he decided to tell the man what he wanted to hear and be over with it.
"No I'm not... This is just so exhausting." Darey said, and immediately realized what he had uttered.
Larry's smile grew wider. "Oh really? What is?" He asked.
"Trying to restrain myself... And also trying to reason on the same level as you idiots. Even talking to you all is exhausting enough." Darey was shocked by what was coming out of his mouth. Those were things he never intended to say. He had no doubt about it as he looked at Larry, who seemed to be enjoying himself.
"This guy... Has an Ability that makes it impossible for me to lie..." Darey concluded.
"So, what do you plan on doing in this Academy?" Larry pushed further, getting close to grasping his answers and satiating his curiosity.
"Excuse me sir, I should be getting to my academics now." Darey stated.
Larry was taken aback by Darey's response. Had he already figured out his Ability and it's weaknesses? Larry's Special Ability's power to extract information and truth from his targets was absolute. However, it had its shortcomings, just like all Abilities.
The target could avoid answering his questions truthfully by just refusing to answer his question, as was the case of Darey, who made a different statement unrelated to his question. However, since they were still unable to lie to him, it meant that Darey was speaking the truth on his Academic priority. He couldn't push it further than he already had.
"Very well Student, you may leave. Just be careful next time." Larry said with a tone of withdrawal and defeat.
"Thank you sir." Darey said, bowing a little and taking his leave.
Larry watched him disappear into the countless students walking on the campus, and after standing for a while like an idiot, decided to leave as well. He had however confirmed his suspicions. Darey had secrets and was no ordinary kid... Not even close. He would investigate him with all he had, and get results. What he would do with those results would be determined by what they were, and his personal whim.
"I've got you by the tails now... And I'm not letting go." He said, as he left the campus of the Beginners.
Darey sensed Larry leaving and resumed his thoughts on the strange man.
"He clearly suspects me, must be due to his detection ability." Darey pondered. "If only there was a way to know more about my targets as well as their abilities beforehand, this would be easier. As of now, I only have COMPLETE INVESTIGATION to help me with that." He sighed.
COMPLETE INVESTIGATION was a useful Ability, and Darey knew that. However, the fact that he had to maintain a conversation with his targets was something that displeased him about the Ability. Darey, especially after spending over 200 years alone, was not accustomed to talking to other people, especially those who could not reason like him and who were ignorant of the big picture.
Tenny was an exception, he was family, and Kyron was his subordinate. He had also revealed the future to them, and so he could maintain an stable conversation with them, unlike others. There was no helping it, however, he just had to play his part and fulfill things on his end.
Darey had a few other reasons he chose to attend Orion Academy, and also join the Beginners, which he didn't divulge to Tenny and Kyron. They would not understand, and also because it was personal.
"Two major people are key to my plans, and are the closest to me... Without them i couldn't have come this far... And so... I need them." Darey said to himself.
To make contact with them, he needed to join Orion as a student, and as a Beginner no less. Something he had never told anyone else... It was too early to start thinking about now. What required his attention at the moment was the Supervisor, Larry. He needed to figure out how to deal with him.
From what Darey could tell, Larry knew nothing about his true identity and plan. His detection abilities had picked up alarm at Darey, but nothing specific. Darey discovered, using COMPLETE INVESTIGATION, that Larry had already been suspicious of him since before he even got to the island... Through his picture and details sent a month prior to their arrival at Orion.
Darey concluded the reason Larry didn't know more about him was because of the large and unfathomable bits of information he had, and since it far surpassed any human or Ability User Larry had ever met, his Ability could not sort through them, and so only unspecific information were revealed to him.
Darey knew that the more Larry observed him, the more he was bound to discover more about him, and he could not let that happen, at least not yet. Another thing he had to take into account would be his Lie nullifying ability, which proved to be dangerous.
Darey managed to escape the situation because of the situation at the time, but if Larry had made it mandatory, or if it was an official and binding interrogation, Darey would divulge everything. Someone like Larry would ordinarily be easy to take care of, but he was sure that Larry had already set things into motion that would make his sudden death, or halting of his investigation more problematic. Plus, Darey supposedly only had one Ability, and it was a non combative one.
"I have to be careful..." He concluded to himself as he entered the building before him.
