Bab 71: "Bad Luck"
Finishing her resolution, Lai Jiayi focused on her current job as a shopkeeper of an internet cafe.
'Time to be professional.'
"Is there anything I can help?" Lai Jiayi flashed a natural smile to Ji Zhuang, pretending not to know her at all.
Hearing Lai Jiayi's words, Ji Zhuang looked up at Lai Jiayi yet didn't immediately speak and just stared at her, scanning Lai Jiayi's appearance from her head to her neck.
She couldn't see more as the partition blocked her view.
Still, Ji Zhuang's eyes flickered for a while before she spoke in a rather cold voice sounding like a breeze in autumn, "Computer."
Her one-word answer wasn't gentle. Her voice wasn't soft like Xuan Lincheng, but the girl's voice brought a sense of mildness.
Upon hearing Ji Zhuang's voice, Lai Jiayi felt like she's in the middle of a peaceful bamboo forest.
"Y-yes? Computer?" Lai Jiayi shuttered a bit, didn't expect the girl to have a good voice too.
'But...why did she only say one word, ah!'
"Play. Computer, " Ji Zhuang repeated her words, and this time, only two words.
'Gahhh, are you lazy or what??'
"Ah, so you want to rent the computer for how long?" Lai Jiayi smiled stiffly, facing this kind of girl.
'Maybe she's not lazy. She's just a girl with a few words!'
"...one." Ji Zhuang gestured one with her finger as she spoke. Once again, she only spat a word.
That's it.
Lai Jiayi got cold sweat facing a girl like this. The air between them was tense– the atmosphere was awkward.
Lai Jiayi felt a cold wind blow just now, sending a shiver down her spine.
'Today is spring, ah!'
"Sure, it will be this much." Lai Jiayi nodded calmly, not showing what she felt on her face before showing Ji Zhuang the bill.
She still had that smile on her face while Ji Zhuang's face was stoic. Lai Jiayi felt like seeing a female version of Zhao Yang.
Ji Zhuang saw the bill and immediately snapped her finger.
Suddenly, a black and white creature popped out of the girl's clothes. It looked at Lai Jiayi with it's two large black eyes similar to Yaya's eyes.
"Here, hiya!" The creature, a cute Panda AI wearing traditional kung-fu clothing, handed the money to Lai Jiayi.
Another girl who used her AI as a piggy bank. This time it's a panda bank.
This made Lai Jiayi think of whether she should also use Yaya as her duck bank or not.
"You can choose any computer, please." Lai Jiayi pointed her finger to the empty rows and waited for the girl to leave before slumping on her chair.
"What the fck is wrong with her?? And how the hell two players are here now? This is weird!" Lai Jiayi protested to Yaya in a low voice.
"Well, quack... in my opinion, they shouldn't be here...it is noon now, so they should be next to Zhao Yang, quack, " Yaya paused a bit.
"They should be either sending him to have lunch at his favorite restaurant or guarding him, quack…" Yaya looked down, not knowing how these two came here.
But soon, he recalled how he and Lai Jiayi made Zhao Yang come late to his office, around 30 minutes late.
"Hey, maybe this is because of us, quack."
"Why?" Lai Jiayi tilted her head.
"We made Zhao Yang late to go to his office, quack. Then...maybe he didn't go to his favorite restaurant to have lunch, quack…"
"Because?"
"Because he's preoccupied with the work he hasn't finished, quack?" Yaya finished his deduction.
"Oh, oh, it can be!" Lai Jiayi slammed the table.
"No wonder these two could wander around like now, quack. They're only needed in the morning when Zhao Yang goes to work, quack…"
"Oh, right, damn, what a butterfly effect." Lai Jiayi propped her forehead.
"Now Zhao Yang stayed at his office. These two had a lot of time to hang out, quack!" Yaya finished his speech.
"Stop, stop. I know. Ahh...still, it's a surprise to see two players at once." Lai Jiayi shook her head and sighed again.

Lai Jiayi was cursing in her mind when the girl somehow overheard Ji Zhuang and Chu Feng's conversation.
"Yooo, eat yet? Boss isn't out, playtime!" The deep, unique voice belongs to Chu Feng.
"Eh, she knows Ji Zhuang?" Lai Jiayi whispered to Yaya.
"It's not shocking, quack, as these two will always go everywhere together due to their job, quack," Yaya replied.
"Eh, how is that so– "
"A driver and a bodyguard are like a partner, quack. Whenever the driver goes out, the bodyguard will also go out," Yaya explained when Ji Zhuang answered Chu Feng.
"Mn. Play." She slowly sat next to Chu Feng.
The two of them didn't seem shaken or anything even after meeting Lai Jiayi, and strangely these two looked close despite being rivals.
Lai Jiayi, who heard this, couldn't help but sigh again.
'Damn, they are friends...but yeah, so what.' She shrugged.
"By the way, I'm curious why Xuan Lincheng suddenly picks a fight with me…" Lai Jiayi asked out of the blue when she recalled the previous incident.
'Is there anything that triggered that girl to think of me as a threat?' Lai Jiayi pondered.
Yaya rolled around on the table first before answering, "She might check your barometer process and saw it's at 2%, quack. She got jealous. Thus, she picked a fight with you, quack."
Yaya's explanation was logical, but it still made Lai Jiayi gasp in surprise.
'Xuan Lincheng checks my barometer?'
"Wait, is it possible?? I haven't even checked my barometer! A player can check other players' barometer?!" the girl asked in doubt. Her face crumpled looking like dried fruit.
How could this be? Checking the player's love barometer? How come I don't know? So all this time, other players can monitor my progress??
