"I can't believe my brother is grey eyes you were talking about!" She huffs.
"Like how the crisp did I not notice he's your twin?" I huff.
"I mean, I should have known when you said grey eyes, but c'mon! There are other guys with grey eyes out there!"
"I mean okay, your eyes are kinda similar, but you're so different! You're blond and he's black haired."
"How I wish I knew you had met him."
"How I wish I knew he was your brother."
"This is so frustrating!" We both say together and hit our heads on the table.
After Nicholas greeted me, he greeted aunt Mary, uncle Mark but didn't bother to look at Lisa.
He then excused himself and that was it.
I made sure I told Chloe about it when I got home, and she literally screamed through the phone.
We hadn't seen each other in the first three periods, so we're lamenting together but differently about the situation during lunch.
"I mean," Chloe raises her head. "Why my dickhead of a brother. He's just going to ruin your sweet innocence " I sigh and raise my head.
"What do you mean?"
"My brother's a dickhead." She hits her hands on the left side of the table. "While you're a sweet potato." She puts her hand on the other side.
"Potato?"
"A dickhead and a potato doesn't mix well." She continues, totally ignoring my question. "It corrupts the potato."
"I'm afraid I'll be the one corrupting him." I sigh.
"Yeah right." She rolls her eyes. "This is all just shocking." She shakes her head. "It is truly a small world."
"At least I finally met him." I point out.
"That you did."
So all this while, it has been Chloe's twin who had been showing up when I needed someone.
I hope he doesn't tell her.
Great.
I sigh and she sighs.
I just have to stay away from him in anyway possible.
Yes, avoid him at all cost!
.....
After lunch, I walked towards my locker to get my English note when I see Nick with a brown haired guy coming from the other direction.
Shit.
I looked around in panic to see where I could hide as students were starting to clear from the hall.
I found a janitor's closet and thankfully it wasn't locked.
Immediately, I hid in there.
I waited for some seconds before I heard his voice.
"That's the only way I know we can deal with it." He says as he walks past the janitor's closet.
"I know Nick but can't-" Their voices fade and I release the breath I didn't know I was holding.
The door opens suddenly, and my eyes widen.
"Are you hiding from someone?" He asks and I sigh in relief.
"It's none of your business." I come out and walk towards my locker.
"Well it kinda is. I was walking on my own, when I saw you run into the closet."
"And how's that your business?" I ask as we reach my locker.
"Because seeing you, makes it my business."
"Right." I open my locker.
"So, who were you hiding from?" He asks again.
"Listen," I turn to him and again, into those deep blue eyes. Immediately, I look away and clear my throat.
"Listen Miles, I have a headache and I have class." I take out my book and close my locker. "I don't have time for-"
"Then you should skip class." He interuppts me.
"What?"
"Skip class." He shrugs.
"Why do you say it as if it's nothing?"
"Because it is." He chuckles.
"I can't do that!"
"Why? It won't kill your grades would it?"
"I just can't."
I'd be wasting Mr Hart's money.
"C'mon."
"No. I can't."
"Don't be a killjoy."
"It's not about being a killjoy. I don't wanna."
"Well, I don't take no for an answer."
"Too bad."
"Yeah, too bad." He takes my hand and leads me the opposite direction of my class.
"Hey!" I shout.
"Just follow me would you."
I felt a spark where our hands touched and I couldn't help but look at it.
Finally, I look up and I see he's taking me up a series of stairs.
"Where are we going?" I ask him.
"Somewhere you can relieve your headache."
"I've never been to this part of school." I state.
"That's because it's the no-go area of the school."
"What?"
We reach an empty floor and we keep walking.
"Legend has it that a girl committed suicide on this floor and that's why they shut it down."
"What?" I say again.
We reached another flight of stairs and we climbed it.
"Don't be scared sweetheart, you've got me." He winks at me and I shudder.
Finally, we reach a door and Miles had to let me go in order for him to open the door.
The door opens with a creak and we step out to open air.
"Don't tell me-" I start as I walk forward but he interuppts me.
"Yup. We're currently standing on the open roof of Clover's High where you can see all of Lamesville." He announces and I turn to him.
"Lamesville?" We stop midway.
"You can't seriously tell me that the city isn't lame to you."
"I haven't explored it yet." I face forward.
More like I never had the chance to.
"Well that's got to be on our to-do list." He puts his hands in his pockets and walks a little further before finally coming to a stop.
"Our?" I walk to him.
"Yes." He nods. "I made a to-do list for us."
"What are they?" I ask.
"Now, that's a surprise sweetheart." He winks again and faces forward.
The thought of Miles making a list of what we'd do together made my heart flip a little.
I felt a rumble in my stomach.
Not the hunger type, not the upset stomach type, not the period pain type.
It's like, what do you girls call it again?
Ah yes,
Butterflies.
I had butterflies rumbling in my stomach at that moment.
