I wake up to my mom, lightly shaking my shoulder. I fell asleep, and I needed it. I don't know how long I've been asleep. I lean up and look around the room. It's been cleaned up since I made a mess of it. "Your father is going to talk to your great-grandpa and aunt. So we will be waiting in here for now." Mom gets up and brings over a holo-pad. It's much more advanced than the one we had. "So what do you want to watch? Here on Alderaan, they have pretty cool shows." I didn't know we were on Alderaan or that they did anything like this.
I nod my head, yes, and she puts on something I've never seen before. It's pretty cool looking too. It's about an Organa who became a famous Jedi. I didn't think that Alderaan would have shows like this. He is fighting off droid after droid with his laser sword. I've never seen one in action. They are the coolest weapons in the whole galaxy. My mind drifts off to what mom said earlier. She said I was special like the Jedi, and I have powers too. "Mom... What's wrong with me..." It takes a second, but she squeezes me and tries her best to comfort me.
I'm no longer interested in the show, only what mom will say. "Oh, Nathan... There is nothing wrong with you. You are just different from your father and me. You have gifts only a select few have. There are quadrillions and more amounts of people and creatures in the galaxy. Only a very low amount can do what the Jedi can. You have gifts like the Jedi. So don't ever think that there is something wrong because there isn't." I can hear the sadness in my mom's voice. If those words are true, then why does she sound so hurt. While Nathan and Lillis continue to wait for Jorands return. There is a discussion going on. Now that Marisa has returned to the estate with two Jedi in tow, let's just say Jorands not happy.
I can't believe she brought Jedi with her. We are in the meeting room and all sitting in silence until grandfather gets here. He should be around 110 years old now. He isn't a spring chicken anymore. I look at the two Jedi and see the neutral and calm expressions they hold. I'll be rancor food before I let them twist Nathan into that. Marisa is lightly tapping a nail against the table. I look to her and see that she has grown into a leader. She was supposed to be the next head if I left. Even though she is my older sister, I'm a guy. So I had the right to the seat of the house until I left.
The door is suddenly pushed open, and guards escort my aging grandfather in. He slowly walks to the seat next to Marisa and sits down. He smiles at me and looks to be truly happy with life. They must have done something to take control of the house. Something I'm glad I wasn't a part of. "It's so good to see you, Jorand... The last time I saw you was when you told me you were leaving with the love of your life..." My grandfather sounds so much older now. Even though his voice is weak, I can tell that he is full of life.
I stay silent and look to the Jedi. I don't want them in on this meeting, and I don't want them asking any questions about Nathan. "I'm going to start by saying I'll not speak anything about my wife or son. If that is the reason for this meeting, then I might as well leave and find a different place to stay." No one on the other side of the table budges. Any have yet to speak other than grandpa. I watch Marisa pull out a holo-communicator with an image of me holding Nathan. It's when we got off Kalcrys ship.
She isn't looking smug or victorious, just concerned. She was always the good one in our family. "Jorand... I saw the damage outside. If your son is the cause of this, he is going to be at the center of many problems." I'm about to retort, but she continues talking. "Before you get mad, just consider the facts. Anyone with enough training has just sensed Nathan, and that includes the sith. If we don't find a way to deal with this now, we risk being attacked." I stay silent. As much as I don't want to cause trouble for them, I have my own priorities.
I stand up and look at everyone individually. "Then I'll get out of the way, Mary. I'll get my family, and we'll find a different place, so you aren't at risk." She looks at me with serious concern and genuine worry.
She stands up fast and slams her fist on the table. "ARE YOU GOING TO BE THIS DAMN STUBBORN!! WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST THE JEDI GIVING YOU HELP!!" She wouldn't know because she isn't a parent.
I look hard at the Jedi, and I steel myself. "They don't want to help us. They want to take Nathan away. I won't let them have my son, and I suggest you leave us alone, Jedi. He is our son, and we have a right to deny you anything regarding him." My sister sits down at my words and looks to the Jedi. Giving them a look that they are on their own now. They look at me and just sigh. I turn around and head for the door. However, it shuts on its own.
I turn to the Jedi, and the older one is holding out his hand. "I can see that you condemn our ways, but you have no idea what you're dealing with. Your son is the strongest I've ever felt, and without proper training, he'll cause harm to everyone around him and himself." I don't care for anything he has to say. I continue on my way to the door, and I try to open it. It won't budge. I look back at them in anger, and I've never wanted to kill innocent people until this moment.
The older of the two stands up and approaches me. "I just want to speak with him. In the end, it's you and your partner's decision whether we can take him." I'm about to refuse, but my grandfather stands up and walks over to us slowly.
He wears a confident smile and looks at me. "I'd at least like to see my great-grandson before you leave. Can you please grant this request?" I know grandpa is trying to help us, but he doesn't understand that we want nothing to do with the Jedi or the sith. We will run all around the galaxy if we have to. "I'll make you a deal, Jorand. If you let us all meet Nathan, I'll buy you a ship with top-of-the-line stealth and hyperspace tech. If you truly want nothing to do with the Jedi, I'll help you." The master I'm next to looks to my grandfather in severe criticism.
I reluctantly agree. If we can get our own ship, we won't have to rely on anyone. "Fine, but I'll be making sure they don't try to recruit him. If you two ask him anything like that, the meeting is over." While the group makes their way up to the room. Nathan and Lillis are watching the show still.
I don't know why, but I feel something. I don't know what it is, though. Mom is currently resting her head on mine. She is hugging me from behind and just lightly rocking me. We hear the door to our room open suddenly. I turn my head and watch dad walk in. He is followed by a very old man, a woman, and two robed men. Mom grips me and turns me over. She places me behind her as if shielding me. "Why are they here, Jorand..." My mom sounds really mad.
I watch the face of the very old man grow happy and approach us. "It's been a long time Lillis..." He turns his attention to me and sits on the bed. "You must be my great-grandson, Nathan." He holds out his hand, and I reach out to meet him, being polite just like mom and dad taught. "It's so nice to meet you. I've heard you've done some pretty amazing things since arriving here on Alderaan." I look to my mom, but she is too focused on staring down the robed figures. I turn back to my great-grandpa and nod my head slowly.
I look on the other side of him and see a woman. She looks somewhat similar to dad. "Hi there, Nathan. I'm your aunt Marisa, but you can just call me Mary." I also nod my head at her words.
I look back to my great-grandpa. "What's your name, great-grandpa?" He just chuckles and puts his hand on my head.
He gently clears his throat. "My name is Jorand. Your father was named after me. You can call me grandpa Jora if you want." I look to dad, and he nods his head yes. I look to the two robed men, and they try to approach. Mom gets up and makes sure she is shielding me.
They stop, and I notice their expressions rarely change. "You are not going anywhere near him. Jorand, get them away from our son." I look to dad, but he just shakes his head no. Mom is about to explode. Aunt Mary stops her, though. She grabs her hand and nods reassuringly at my mom. Mom turns to me fast and kneels in front of me. "If you feel uncomfortable with any of their questions, just say so. I'll stop them, okay." I nod my head, and mom walks over to dad.
Grandpa Jora sits next to me as the two men approach. The older of the two kneels in front of me and gives a small smile. "Do you know what I am, Nathan?" I look him up and down and see a hilt. However, that's all I see. I shake my head no. "I'm a Jedi knight. My name is Conobai. The one behind me is my padawan, Jace." I lightly bow my head in respect to the Jedi. "Nathan... Do you know what the force is?" I've never heard of it before. I shake my head no.
He looks at grandpa Jora and then at my parents in slight disapproval. "Have you had any weird dreams or things you do that might not be normal?" I look to my mom and dad to see if it's okay to answer, and they nod their heads for me to be honest.
I look down and mess with my fingers. I'm really nervous about answering these questions. "Sometimes I dream of things that will happen... I can tell something is going to happen a little bit before it does too..." Those are the only things weird to me. Conobai nods his head and reaches into his robe. He hands a pad to his padawan.
I look at him in confusion about what's going on. "Okay, Nathan. I want you to try and focus really hard on what image that pad is showing. Do you think you can do that?" I watch my mom and dad try to approach and stop, but grandpa Jora raises a hand and stops them. I look at the Jedi and see him waiting for a response.
I nod my head, and he lightly smiles. I close my eyes and focus on what the pad is showing. I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing. I don't feel or see anything. So I focus a little harder, and then I get a flash of something. It's an N5 droid. "I see an N5 droid..." Conobai looks back at Jace, and he nods his head yes, confirming what I said.
Conobai looks back at me and takes a breath. "I have one more test, Nathan. Do you think you are up for it?" I look to my parents, and they look ready to charge over here and pick me up. Grandpa Jora sees this and glares at them. They calm down, and I look back at Conobai. I nod my head yes. Conobai takes a bladeless hilt from his waist and holds it in his palm. "Alright, Nathan. I want you to try and lift this from my hand. If it's too hard for you, just say so, alright." I nod my head yes.
I stare at the hilt, and nothing happens. I imagine it lifting off his hand and floating. The hilt shoots up and floats right in front of my eyes. Conobai is about to say something, but he is interrupted by his bladeless hilt being taken apart. His hilt is now floating in several pieces in front of me. I see a floating green crystal that hums with energy. This is something I didn't know I could do. It's like when everything in the room was flying around me.
As soon as I think of that, everything in the room begins to float. I lift everyone from the ground, including the bed Grandpa Jora and I are sitting on. "Okay, Nathan, that's enough. You can stop now..." I listen and try to stop everything from floating around. I drop my focus, thinking that will fix it, but instead, everything crashes down. I hear things crash from outside too. Jace runs to the window and looks back at me with a funny look.
I look to the ground and see the hilt still in pieces. "I'm sorry about your hilt thing..." Conobai just smiles at me. He picks up the pieces without touching them either and reassembles them. I look at the messy room now and see that many are cleaning the mess I made. I look at my parents, and I can see the teary face of my mom. I hope I didn't do anything wrong.
