Bab 86: Have I Mentioned I Hate Spiders?

We heard the monster spider thing clumsily crashing its way up, down, and all around my house about half a block before we arrived. Of course, I'd already been smelling it for a couple of blocks anyway. When we finally cut across Mrs. Bixwillow's yard onto my street, actually seeing the thing was almost anti-climactic.

It was hard at work pulling webbing out of its butt and wrapping it around my house like it was wrapping a Christmas present. All it was missing was the bow.

"What on God's Green Earth is that?" cried Zoe, which confused me because I thought we'd already established that a giant spider creature was on the loose.

Seeing my house trussed up like that shook me to the core, but it also angered me. That was my house. What right did this thing have to just giftwrap it like that?
