Bab 64: Chapter 64: I Bring a Knife to an Elf Fight

“Dead girl! In hallway!” cried the three-fingered flunkie.

This got everyone’s attention as Gus came charging in right past our hiding place.

“I beg your pardon?” said Cecil, standing up. While it’s possible that he was reacting to the shock of the news, it’s more likely that he simply couldn’t understand Gus through the nasally drone emanating from that noseless face.

Gus jabbed his hand behind him as he spoke. “Dead girl! In hallway! Not in room, in hallway!”

“The one I killed?” asked Sally. “What’s she doing there?”

“Lying on floor!” answered Gus.

Something told me things were about to get ugly. I shifted my weight and got a firm grip on my kukri. Next to me, Xander slowly lifted his sword.

“That doesn’t make any sense at all,” said a very bewildered Sally. “She can’t walk out of her room. She’s dead. She’ll be dead for another three or four days. Then she’ll still be dead, but she’ll be able to walk out of her room. I’m really confused and I’m getting upset!”
