Black Mansion | 21st June 1988 | 1 PM
Charlus was very excited because it was his birthday. He had been waiting for his birthday the whole summer because once turned 11, he could finally get his wand.
The moment he had woken up, he had jumped out of bed. He had waited till his birthday party was finished so that he could start pestering Sirius to take him to get his wand. When his birthday party was going on, he was distracted by the thoughts of his future wand.
"Cut the cake goddammit!"
Charlus came back to reality when Sirius shouted at him to cut the cake. He looked around and saw that they were waiting for him to cut the cake. He cut a small piece and first put it in his brother's mouth. Then he called Sirius.
"Awww. That's very sweet, kid."
Sirius stood beside Charlus and closed his eyes with his mouth wide open, waiting for Charlus to feed him a piece of cake.
Charlus cut out a small piece of cake and put it in his brother's hands. Then he lifted the cake with both hands and then balanced it onto his right hand. Everyone around started snickering. Sirius had bent to Charlus' height, so his face was the same height as Charlus'. Charlus took one last look at the 2 kg Black Forest cake and bid farewell.
"SMACK!!!"
The cake attached itself to Sirius' face, and pieces of the cake slowly fell off. Sirius wiped his face with one hand. He didn't say a single word. The whole living room was silent until someone started laughing. Soon, everyone except Sirius was laughing.
After the laughter ended, they looked at Sirius. Sirius' face wasn't that clear, but they could make out that he was smiling.
"Charlus.... Oh, dear Charlus. You thought you could escape your fate by dumping your cake on me?"
The fate Sirius was talking about was that every year, on Charlus' birthday, Sirius would smack the cake into Charlus' face. To escape that, as well as to take revenge, Charlus smacked Sirius' face this time.
"What do you mean?"
"You thought I never had a plan B?"
Sirius' left hand was behind his back the whole time. In it, he was holding his wand. He waved it behind his back, and suddenly, an unknown object fell onto Charlus' head.

25th June 1988 | Diagon Alley | 3 PM
Sirius and Charlus went alone to shop for Charlus' supplies. Since he became 11, he would start a lot of things he hadn't in his previous years. Leaving the wand aside, he would need protective gear for Herbology and Potions. He also needed a cauldron for potions, along with professional horse gear if he wanted to play Polo.
Shopping for all that took just over 2 hours. He was supposed to shop at Place Cachee, but Sirius took him to Diagon Alley since every Potter had shopped there when they were going to school.
Sirius and Charlus stopped in front of the last stop of the day. Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C.
Charlus couldn't contain his excitement as he went in. When he entered, he observed the store. There was a simple counter, and behind the counter were countless wands. There was no one behind the counter so Charlus thought that no one was there. He became disappointed and turned around to leave when he heard a sound.
It sounded like something was knocked over. Charlus heard the sound a couple of times before a man presented himself before them.
"Charlus Potter. I've been expecting you."
"You know me?"
"Why yes! I sold your parents their wands. Your mother had Willow with Unicorn hair, 10 1/4'', and your father favoured Mahogany with Dragon Heartstring 11''.
"Wow! You remembered something 20 years ago?"
"I remember every wand I sold. Now, what do I get you?"
Ollivander went to the back of the store and brought back a wand. Charlus picked it up and waved it, but nothing happened. Ollivander was surprised. He had never seen someone not react a wand. He went back and brought three boxes. Charlus tried each wand, but nothing happened. He started getting worried.
"Is it because I'm not magical Padfoot? Maybe there was a mistake and I'm a squib."
Sirius shook his head and said, "You are magical Charlus. You don't worry."
Sirius had comforted Charlus, but he still had a seed of doubt in his mind. Ollivander was not concerned about whether Charlus was magical or not and kept bringing wands. After four more failed attempts, Ollivander suddenly realized something.
"Oh dear, I forgot to try that."
He went to the back and brought four boxes. Charlus felt something immediately when he saw the boxes. it was like a connection. He became drawn to the wands and he picked the leftmost one. The moment he picked it up, it threw him a meter away.
Sirius immediately helped Charlus up. Charlus wasn't sad that he had failed to get a wand, but was relieved that he had magic. Ollivander was happy that he had succeeded in getting a reaction. Charlus kept on testing each wand, and he soon came to the last wand.
Charlus picked up the last wand, and suddenly he felt strange. It was like the wand was okay with him, but he felt something was missing.
Ollivander sighed and said, "Pity."
Sirius immediately asked, "Why? Didn't he get his wand? It's clearly reacting to him."
Ollivander shook his head and said," The wand didn't accept him. It is okay with him, but that doesn't mean it is his wand. It hasn't chosen him. However, looking at the reaction, I can recommend a wand to you. This wand is 11'', Holly and Phoenix feather. Its combination is suitable to Mr Potter, but the wand core hadn't chosen him. Phoenix feather cores are quite picky. However, I know a wand just like this. 10 1/2'', Holly and Phoenix feather. But it's not in my possession. A friend has it. He acquired it recently, but he didn't tell me from where."
"Could you tell us where this person is?"
"His name is Mykew Gregorovitch. He has his shop here in Diagon Alley. However, for some reason, he's managing his branch in France. Place Cachee - Gregorovitch Zauberstäbe. You will find him there."
"Thank you."
Charlus asked Sirius, "Can we go now? Please?"
Sirius was interested too, and he didn't want to go out of the house again to do something he could do then on the way.
"Fine. Grab my hand tightly."
Charlus held Sirius' hand and they apparated away to the Black Mansion. After he apparated, he went to the floo. He told Charlus to follow him and went first.
"Place Cachee!"
Charlus followed him.
"Place Cachee!"
When he walked out, he could see the familiar Alley he had visited last year. He followed Sirius, who was asking passersby for directions to Gregorovitch Zauberstäbe. After 15 minutes of searching, they finally reached the shop.
They entered the shop and found that it was empty. They saw that an old aged man was sitting leisurely behind the counter. The layout of the shop was very similar to Ollivanders.
"Do you need a wand?"
The man behind the counter asked.
"We are looking for someone. A Mykew Gregorovitch?"
The man narrowed his eyes. "That's me. Why do you need him?"
Sirius explained Charlus' situation.
"Ollivander suggested you. He said you had a wand that was Holly and had a Phoenix Feather core."
The man shook his head and said, "I don't sell whatever wands that you want. I only sell wands that are compatible with you."
Sirius cleared the situation.
"We also want a wand that suits Charlus. We only wish to try the wand out."
Gregorovitch nodded and brought out a box from behind the counter. The box was white with golden designs decorating it. It looked luxurious. Gregorovitch gently opened the lid of the box and took out the wand. He put it into the hands of a hopeful Charlus.
The moment the wand touched Charlus, he felt a connection. A connection deeper than that between him and the wand at Ollivanders. He felt like the wand had become part of him, like it had become an extension of his limb. A golden light emerged from the tip of the wand and illuminated the entire shop.
