Bab 34: Shake on it
Lumas was goofing off as the rest of the expedition regained their strength, they have made it to the 36th floor and he had to admit it was beautiful, White patterned marble made up the walls and floor, the ceiling was veiled in black, the floor itself seemed to be the interior of a gigantic castle with wide decorated hallways separating various coliseums, This floor was fairly relaxed compared to the ones before, the hallways lacked monsters but once someone entered one of the many coliseums the door would close behind them as monsters would spawn inside
Lumas had been 'advised' not to enter by Finn and Riveria if he wanted to fight Udealus, but what made him upset was the fact that Susan was allowed to enter alongside Ais and the others, So Lumas was currently wasting time by internally studying alchemy, While he hasn't dwelled too deep into the art of potion making; a subdivision of alchemy he was still quite interested… just the thought of a single vial of liquid being able to mend deadly wounds was pretty cool
Inside of the Coliseum 5 people were surrounded by a horde of monsters, Ais, Susan, Gareth, Finn, and Lefiya… They weren't overwhelmed thanks to Susan's 'Feather Fall' as for the monsters that were let through they were either held back by Gareth or quickly dealt with by Ais or Finn… Lefiya seemed to be shaken as she stood looking over the monsters frozen
Everything seemed to be under control until a roar resounded through the coliseum Lefiya's eyes landed on the beast, A variant Minosaurs which similar to its counterpart in the lower floors the Minotaur had 2 horns adorned in its head however the Minosaurs stood nearly 5 meters in height heaving a large stalagmite sword over its shoulder as it charged forward with speed unprecedented on the 36th floor, the marble shattered under its feet as it cleaved forward directly pushing towards Lefiya
Gareth was held back by a sudden swarm of monsters, Finn charged forward but wouldn't make it in time, Susan began to form a wall of feathers but a soft mutter filled their ears
"Sylph…"
Infront of Lefiya a convergence of wind manifested a small sprite, Lefiya stared at the sprite in shock the stories she heard in her childhood filled her mind, the spirits, sprites, wisps of mana they all led to one story which happens to be her favorite, as she recounted the story in her mind the sprite lifted a single finger pointing towards the Minosaur
"Before history was recorded
A man stood at the center of it all
Behind him were all races
Bound by blood and mana
Willing to sacrifice themselves
as the darkness crept from the unknown
Looming over the man's creations
Destiny wrote they were headed towards destruction
Fate wrote the end of times
But a single man, born from the spirits
Birthed by the sprites, blessed by the tree
Cut his own heart out sealing the darkness
Until the day the inheritor seeks the darkness"
As the story went on in her mind a gale of pressurized wind shot from the sprites finger, as the gale of wind left a trail in the marble it sped toward the minosaur
"On the day unwritten in Fate and Destiny
When the inheritor breathes life into all of creation
The tree shall reveal itself, followed by its children
To beat back the darkness, in hopes of bathing in the light"
As the gale of wind impacted the Minosaur its body exploded into a bloody mist before it continued creating a gap in the horde, a sweep of feathers tore through the groups of monsters, With a small smile adorning her face Lefiya was stuck in her own thoughts 'I hope I can meet him, the inheritor'
Ais rubbed the bracelet adorning her wrist with a soft smile as she turned her head to Susan with a soft nod, a wave of feathers filled the coliseum as pained screeches sounded out, it didn't take long for the coliseum to be cleared and the doors to crawl open, Finn could only let out a sigh as he internally wondered why they couldn't do that earlier
That was the last coliseum until the 37th floor where they would have to do this all again, according to Finn's estimate they had 5 days before Udealus reformed and Finn already knew he was in for a headache, Lumas had been consistently bothering him to face the Monster Rex on his own which Finn had shot down repeatedly
"Finn, Come on it's just a Monster Rex if I can't handle it I'll just have Susan or Sebas jump into the frey"
Releasing a sigh way too heavy for someone his age Finn reluctantly spoke
"If you can clear the remaining Coliseums on your own within the day then I'll think about it"
Lumas suspiciously stared at Finn before sticking his hand out narrowing his eyes as he spoke "Shake on it,"
